Honestly it would be hard for us to diagnose DJ. I always recommend a vet when in doubt and if he’s whimpering when you touch it then he needs to see a vet. Vibes to DJ.

I agree, he needs to be seen by a vet. It sounds like something is going on. Did you see him injure himself (fall, jump funny?) or did this just started suddenly?

Yep, time to see a vet. He may be in pain too and you don’t want him to stop eating.

Were you able to get to the vet earlier today?
                        What did s/he say?
If you couldn’t get hold of your own vet, I’d urge you to call an emergency vet immediately.

I cant get into the vet until Monday and we don’t have an emergency vet.Im scared!

First, call your vet that you’re seeing on Monday and see if she has an emergency phone number to call if she doesn’t answer. If yes, call that number and describe your bunny’s condition over the phone. If she has an answering machine and you haven’t booked the appointment yet, leave a detailed message describing everything, and say you will be bringing him in first thing Monday if you can’t see someone else, but please call you back to let you know what to do until then. Leave a call back number.

If that doesn’t get an answer, call a few general vets from the yellow pages that are near you and ask if any vet working there is experienced with bunnies. One may be, and again, describe the bunny’s condition. Tell them that you can get him to your regular vet on Monday if need be, but he seems to be in pain so you would like to know what to do until then.

Often a vet Hospital has a larger capacity for seeing different kinds of animals, so try them first.

Pam has some good suggestions – if you cannot find a vet – go first thing to the vet on Monday morning and if you have to drop him off for the vet to look at.

In the meantime try to do a pellet mush and feed him. I hate to tell people this but you can give baby aspirin too for pain – it can work in a pinch to hopefully relieve some pain. How much does he weight?

An injured foot as well as poops that are getting smaller is definitely concerning. Often, pain will cause a bunny to eat less, which can cause their digestive tract to slow down. This is pretty dangerous for the bunny which is why if he stops eating you will need to force feed some pellet mush. Hopefully you can get to the vet ASAP tomorrow to get your bunny’s foot examined, and also get some pain meds. The pain meds may help to encourage your bunny to eat more so that you don’t have to worry about stasis as much.

I hope that he is able to see a vet soon, and is feeling better soon!

he is getting a little better using it more should i restrict his movement? and if it is broken what will they do set it cast it?

It’s hard to know what will be done – depends on way to many factors to take a guess at. I would restrict until you get him to the vet just in case it causes more injury.

I agree with restricting it until he is seen by a vet. If he’s in his cage, remove any platforms that he might jump up on. The jump down onto the leg in particular could injure it further.

it looks a little better now and he is walking on it a bit. Should he still go to the vet?he still will not let me touch it.

Yes, you need to go to the vet. You do not know the problem and you think he is in pain. He needs a physical exam.

YES!!! He needs to be seen by a vet!!!

Depending on the break, the vet may just send you home with pain meds as it cannot be set, or set it or amputate. It will depend on the break and what you want for the rabbit.

PLEASE see your vet now! It’s Monday now and they are open.

                                            Please keep us posted!!

His dew claw was grown into his paw so we clipped it and if it doesn’t go away we will go back.
