So I was holding my bun, Pepper, about a month ago and I noticed she had no fur on the back end of her hocks. It looked like sore hocks but it wasn’t raw it just felt like skin with no fur. She used to be kept on concrete but she was able to get away from it. Plus, she hasn’t been on it for a while (around late novermber) now she is on fleece. She was overweight but now she is getting a lot healthier. Could this have caused it? When I touch it, it doesn’t hurt her so I think it is all healed up. But how can I make the fur grow back? Thank you!!! Btw- she is going to the vet on the 26th for a checkup/spay should I ask her there?

Hard flooring like concrete can create sore hocks and if not treated fast the skin will break open and then callus over it and no hair will grow on that dead skin. Being over weight and not clipping toe nails can cause the hocks to have more pressure on them as it is painful to push on the front of the feet because of the long nails, so many things could have caused the sore hocks but there isn’t a way to make hair grow back sadly. My New Zealand just from being such a big bun deals with sore hocks from time to time

Bunny house, do you think she is still in pain? It must have happened when she was on concrete because she has no problems now. I can touch it and she hops just fine. Thanks!

I don’t think she would be in pain if it happened awhile back but being on hard surfaces can proably make them sore so I would try to clip her nails more often to help alleviate any pain should could have from the nails and keep providing her the soft substrate
