Sore Hocks.

My bun, Dill, has mites. Although it isnt really bothering him, and some fur is loss and usually grows back, I noticed that the fur right under of his left hocks is gone. So he’s been stepping on his hocks all day long, its red now. His other hocks is reddish pink, his usual colour. Is there anything I can do? His cage is filled with fleece and I have a large foam pillow under the fleece and he likes to sit on it. Recently I bought 5 more fleeces, and folded them into mats so theyre really spongey. His whole cage (execpt for litter, food and water areas, and his den). He’s also underweight (he got hookworms from outside after someone abandoned him, before I captured him)

All the soft stuff in his cage is of course great.

Yeah! I realized because of his mite problem last week, ALL the fur on his belly came out! It’s around 1-4 degrees outside in the morning, and probably colder at night. Especially the pavement, so if didnt take him in, he would freeze. Also he had hookworms, and he wouldnt be able to gain enough nutrience to grow and stay strong. I havent seen the other strays in awhile, I hope theyre ok… My friend spotted an adult rabbit who she thought was Armadillo, because it was also harlequin. She called out “Armadillo” and it just watched her. She said it ran away though, and looked a bit different than Dill. I just hope theyre ok I’ll try to collect some of the fur that is falling off and hopefully I’ll be able to get some. The fur on his belly is growing back nicely within the next two or three days of the fur loss, so hopefully he wont have any more problems, I am however going to take him to the vets if the fur isnt growing back properly, and so far- its growing back nicely!

I’m taking Dill’s poop sample back to the vets today, hopefully all the worms are gone! The vet I go to has many rabbit’s of his own, which I think is really awesome because it’s so hard to find ravvit savvy vets! He’s also capturing rabbits from outside (domestic of course… Well like 99% of the rabbits here are)

My bunny had fur mites when I found him, luckily they were easily cured. Dill is lucky to have you

Yeah! He has young and old rabbits! He said his oldest one he has right now is 13 years old! I’m glad that I was able to keep Dill, I cant imagine what would happen if I wasnt able to keep him!
