I’m feeling more up to posting this. I lost my rabbit, Sophie on May 20th.
A little about Sophie. I got her as a companion rabbit for Bam. To be truthful she drove me absolutely batty most days. She had such a high energy about her. She’d constantly try climbing on the counters or dig in her litter box. She was a wild little spirit and very fiesty. She was the complete opposite of Bam. Bam is such a laid back, lazy dude. She complimented him well. Her spunky and curious nature led her and Bam on quite a few adventures because wherever she went, Bam would follow suit. She was the yin to his yang. She complimented Bam very well and got him to quit being so lazy all day. I’ll miss her free spirit. She wasn’t the one for cuddles but she was such a firecracker and a pleasure to watch zoom through the house or binky outside in the run. She’d stop briefly for a few sniffs or pets before she was off again to do her rounds of bunny 500s.
The house just doesn’t feel the same without her energy around. She is so missed around here ![]()
She really was so lovely… ![]()
Thanks. I still miss her so much. I’m having more days nkw where it doesn’t hurt my heart as much but today was hard for me for some reason. I guess because I went to her grave for the first time today. Bam seems to be fully back to himself again. He was only melancholy for a couple days before he moved on. He doesn’t seem to be a fan of going out and about much though without her. He spends a large portion of his day in his condo despite it being left open all day. I bribe him out with treats but I don’t think I’ve seen too much play happen. I’m startin to look into getting another companion for him though.
Have you tried doing stuff on the floor? Whenever I do anything I can on the rug, Chewie gets such a kick out of it – investigating, nose booping, flopping against me or on top of whatever I happen to be holding. Maybe Bam would eventually cave in to curiosity and venture out more?
She was stunning, NBO.
She was beautiful by the photos , pictures to treasure forever
One thought I just had when reading this – what about a “comfort rug” to encourage Bam to come out… like I’m thinking a fleece blanket with things he loves attached to it – sewn on – maybe some toys tied to the corners of it that will have Sophie’s scent on them … or maybe you have blanket she had ( ?)Or soft toy she had (?) that you could attach the fabric off of onto the fleece blanket …
Then this “comfort blanket” could be placed just outside the cage to begin with and slowly slowly ( like over weeks) moved more out into the lounge or whichever area you are hoping he will venture too
Beautiful couple. Thanks for sharing. xxx
Sophie was so lovely, and a wonderful spirited rabbit.

He’s always been kind of a lazy guy lol So I want to get him another companion to bring out that more energetic side of him again. but he is surrounded by us because he ha full access to the play room and the office so we are in here a lot with him.

If you look closely in the 3rd picture down you can see part of a rabbit stuffy. He still has that. But that’s the only thing that’s left that probably has her scent. We couldn’t have blankets or rugs in with her because she was a destructo bunny! But he loves his stuffy and grooms it frequently
I am so so sorry for your loss. She was so beautiful, and she will be dearly missed.
((((Hugs))))

I can never go through a single thread in here without crying, I usually close up tabs without replying because it hurts me too much. But I had to reply to this one because she looks so much like my Ruvik! Her pictures are so beautiful and I’m so sorry for your loss..
