he started stomping with his paw, it’s the first time he ever does that, and he’s making quite a racket. what’s wrong with him?  I did drop a glass which broke with a lot of noise, could it have startle him? anything I could do to calm him down?

:p Heh. Sounds like he’s letting you know his disapproval of your glass-breaking habits!

He’s thumping his hind legs? They thump when startled/scared etc. It’s a behaviour they use to warn other rabbits in the warren of possible danger. He’ll come round.

As long as he’s thumping with his back legs he’s just mad at you. Probably you watched the wrong tv show, went to the washroom wihtout permission etc. etc.! LOL

If it’s his front paw that’s not OK he may be sick…let us know!

Talking to him or petting himi will get him to stop.   Now remember you must ask buns permission b4 you break a glass. Or he will show total dissaproval.

K&K I might interject here that Fiver stomps both front paws and actually whines if I do something that displeases him. Would this be a normal reaction or should I be looking for some other problem? I have also seen him thump his back foot, but not as often as he does the front. Perhaps the foot that thumps is the indicator of the severity of the offense?
What other reason would a rabbit thump it’s front feet? 0_o

I dropped a rubbermaid container in my room a few days ago and one of my bunnies thumped with his back foot for almost a half an hour every 30 seconds! So it is a pretty normal reaction if something startles them.

Mimzmum – does Fiver kind of lunge forward to stomp his feet and make kind of a grunting noise? My bunny Grace loves to do that if I don’t get her pellets in her dish in time!

Yes, he does lunge a little bit. Not angrily, just you can tell he’s extremely displeased that you did something he didn’t like. But he doesn’t really grunt, he actually makes a noise that sounds like I little boy whining that his ice cream just fell in the dirt. It’s the most plaintive and saddest little sound you’ll ever hear. Breaks my heart. I get all mushy and fall over myself apologizing. It’s funny as heck.

ahahaha, the husband feels terrible too when Grace gets upset, if she whined like that I’m sure she would get hundreds of treats

The hubby just reminded me that when we took the “under-the-bed” privileges away from Martin by putting NIC cubes around the bed, he threw a real big temper tantrum and made a noise just like that. He grabbed the cubes and shook them and then made this very high pitched cry/grunt. It was pretty sad

I’ve noticed especially stroppy/entitled/diva rabbits do whine when they stomp! Don’t think there’s anything wrong with them-just something you’re doing wrong…like letting the telephone ring, or not paying enough attention, or sleeping in LOL
