Well, I just scrubbed out the X pen and rearranged Olive’s things (washing blankets now in hot, hot water) d/t the coccidia they found in her fecal sample.  She’s not showing any symptoms, but she’s on a ten day course of Albon for it.  I’m hoping banana mush + Albon will work as I don’t know if she’ll take to syringe feeding for me.

I think she’s mad, I really do.  I was cleaning up, and noticed a PILE of poops in the middle of the living room.  Sighing, I went to clean them up, and when I came back, another few rabbit pellets graced the floor. I also got thumped at when I was scrubbing out her X pen to disinfect it.

I think this is her way of telling me a) I didn’t like all the poking and prodding at the vet this morning, thank you very much b) don’t you dare clean and rearrange my cage, even though it’s good for me and c) that medicine was the pits, lady!  (They gave her a dose at the vet’s.)

        Temper, temper, temper.

Anyone else’s rabbits get cheeky when they don’t like what’s going on?  Maybe I’m anthropomorphizing, but then again, maybe not.

Oh, my god, YES. Flopsy does what my husband calls “pooping in defiance.” He gets mad at God-only-knows-what-we-did-that-specific-time and footflicks his way over to one of his litterboxes, then hops in and sits and sulks/poops for up to 30 minutes. Sometimes he scoops out all the poops and soiled litter onto the floor, just for variety’s sake. He is SUCH A STINKER! I love him to death, though. He’s my baby.

            LOL!!!!!  OMG!

At least yours poops *in* his litterbox (although the scooping poop thing is just *devious*.)

Well, I guess the bunnies have to communicate in *some* way they have been displeased with their human servant’s lack of cooperation with their wishes…

Try putting some banana on the end of the syringe to get your bunny to associate the syrine with a positive reward.
Schroeder is on a medication daily that tastes good (Enulose) and since he is bonded to Griffin- we let Griff lick the syrnge so he does not get left out. : ) Griff will take ANY medication from a syringe with no problem now- even some nasty pain meds- he ate it looked puzzled- so I gave him a treat and he forgot about the yucky stuff from a syringe.

to get a bunny used to medication I have let a little soak into a treat (like an Oxbow Barley treat) and then given the treat- and that gives them the taste with something they enjoy and that has seemed to increase compliance with them accepting meds.

Also be sure to use the syringe by approaching the side of their mouth, not the front. You kind of hold them in place and put the tip (banana on it is a great addition) into the side back teeth between their jaws. It’s MUCH easier to insert there, and to hold them in place. Then you push in and their tongues dart out to lap it up.

I call them PROTEST POOPS. They most definitely use them as the angry weapon of choice. And yes, they get mad, often for no reason you can figure out. So when they have multiple reasons like you described, you get multiple piles of expression of displeasure. Bad slave. Nyah nyah.

Thanks, I mashed her dose in with banana and she accepted it readily, so for now I won’t have to syringe feed her the meds.  She’s been pooping just outside of her litterbox in the living room, so I think she’s still mad.  I guess it could be worse, however, it could be pee…

Oh yes, I had an “argument” with Powder last night – he left some droppings outside his litter box so I picked them up, he watched me do it ears folded back and as soon as I was done, he went to the spot and replaced them. *sigh* lol

Glad she’s accepting the meds in a banana

That just cracked me up! It’s just so evil bunny. Typical.

Link was on Albon – and if yours is banana flavored, she might actually be EAGER to get her meds by mouth, no treats needed. I know Link was.

Lis:  So sorry to hear about Link’s passing.  I still mash up the meds in banana and it works like a charm.  I’m not sure I want to chance a cranky rabbit if I feed the meds by mouth, though a part of me wants to try just in case I have an emergency and *have* to administer meds by mouth.  I’m not sure what flavor the Albon is–it’s this chalky yellow color, so maybe it is banana flavored.

Mine was the chalky yellow too.

I think these bunnies have bunny esp and are fraternizing with each other because I’ve been getting protest poops too. Arthur gets mad if I don’t leave the cage door open, even if he isn’t out and about. He just wants it open even if he is inside. The only time I close the door is if I start cleaning or have to go in another room for a bit and TA-DA there are poops.
