        Hello all,

I’m looking to buy a soft-sided carrier for Yoda, as we are flying from NY to CA in mid-June. He currently has a Mr. Peanut carrier, which he absolutely loves . I’d like to get a sturdier carrier, however, to ensure he won’t be able to chew/dig through… his current one has held up well, but I notice he starts to dig at the sides if he’s in there for more than 10 minutes. I don’t want to wait and see what kind of damage he can do on a half-day journey!

I think privacy panels would help with the digging, so that’s a feature I’m looking into (being able to see outside seems to encourage an escape attempt). So far, my top choice is the Sleepypod Atom. Does anyone have experience with the Sleepypod products? I was also thinking of fitting a portable litter box like this one into the carrier, so that the carrier could essentially be a mobile litter box (i’d put wood pellets + plastic canvas screen + hay in the box). I’d probably have to build something myself though, as the ones I can find online are too big. The Dry Fur liners are another alternative, but I don’t know how well they would protect the sides of the carrier.

I’d love to hear people’s suggestions/experiences for airplane carriers! Other tips on air travel are welcome, too.

Hi there Yoda Sr.! I will actually be flying from MA to CA this Saturday so am in a similar situation. Here’s the carrier I have:

Gorilla Grip The Original Pet Purse Carrier Bag
          https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDF4DZ9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cinnabun is about 3 lbs and she has plenty of room in the carrier. It’s also quite sturdy, sturdy enough that they give you a 10 year warranty if it breaks (so they replace the product for free). It is on the cheaper side too! I’ve had it for about a year and it still looks like it’s in perfect condition. Cinnabun also likes to scratch and chew at the fabric but it’s still in great condition.

Dry Fur liners would be good to use as well as some puppy pads on top of that to protect the sides. I get my super absorbent ones from Amazon as well. For some reason, Cinnabun loves to press her butt against the side of the carrier to pee if she needs to go while traveling -_- covering the sides with the puppy pads has helped very much, however!
