I wanted to start by saying we are seeing rabbit specialist vet but the problems are persisting and I’m worried so I wanted to seek other advice also.
I have a young velveteen. He was born 4/11/20.  I brought him home at about 10 weeks.  At 12 weeks I had him vaccinated for RHDV2. At that appointment the dr said he may have an ear infection and sent me home with xymox (spelling.) while I awaited the results of an ear culture. Surprisingly the ear culture came back clear and I was advised to do routine ear cleaning with the xymox for good measure because he’s a floppy ear red bun.
In august sneezing and a gagging sound began and it was several times a day over two days so I took him to the dr again.  They said likely upper respiratory issue and sent us home with .15ml bay trail twice daily for 14 days.  Sneezing didn’t really resolve possibly slowed a bit but it’s hard to say for certain, so a

i monitored for a week and realized he wasn’t better and took him back to the dr. The dr said he seemed otherwise healthy and sent us home with another .15ml twice daily of bay trail for 14 days. She said this was in case it was a stubborn infection etc.

well, here we are at the end of this 2nd 14 day course and the sneezing and nasal discharge continue. Tonight the discharge was very milky and prominent so I’m worried. I’m not sure what to try next. The vet said that it’s likely some sort of chronic issue. I had initially thought it was likely pasteurella but I am not as smart with rabbit diseases and issues.

here is a oicture from tonight. Thoughts? Recommendations on what else I should be doing with our vet?

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It is very well possible that it is simply an infection that Baytril is not effective for treating, in which case I would discuss other antibiotics instead, if the current course isn’t seeing improvements. My Wick went through 3 medications adjustments until we hammered down what was most effective. It ended up being baytril twice a day and penicillin shots once a day.

I would be weary to declare it’s a chronic issue without trying different meds. Notably, from start to finish it took 5 months of trying stuff out to cure my Wick’s URI.

I agree. The bacteria involved could be resistant to Bayril. I would try some different antibiotics before giving up.
