We are a bit puzzled by symptoms my rabbit has been having! About 2 months ago she started sneezing and making little honking sounds she never had before (almost like she is congested). We went to the vet and long story short she ended up trying 2 different antibiotics, getting GI stasis, and finally recovering. The second antibiotics cleared up the sneezing/congestion for 2 months but then she started having the same symptoms again! She is acting completely normal – high energy, normal appetite, normal poops – but has been have sneezing fits a few times a day. She will immediately try to wipe her nose when the sneezing fit starts and after. She has been doing this for several weeks and isn’t getting better or worse. One time when she sneezed there was white/green discharge but we have seen no other discharge the other times. Is it possible it’s allergies? We keep her pen regularly clean and nothing has changed in the house where we keep her so we’re puzzled what allergy it could possibly be. Could it be an infection that never cleared up? Thank you in advance!

How long was she on the last antibiotic? It is definitely possible that it knocked the bacteria back, but then the antibiotic was stopped too soon and the bacteria recovered.

She could need a longer course, respiratory infections can be hard to kick.

I agree. Sometimes 10 days just isn’t long enough. A lot of vets will do 14 days minimum. For really stubborn URIs, they need to be on an antibiotic even longer.
