Sneezing and Cold ears?

 It’s been awhile since I’ve visited here, but I’m back with bunny troubles :s My bunny’s been sneezing the past week, not very frequently, about once a day or 2 i would say. And recently his ears have gotten really cold as well, I don’t know what’s wrong because he’s eating/drinking normally, pooping/peeing normally as well. He still gets excited for treats and food in the morning and night, and still races around my room. 

A day or 2 ago he chewed on one of my wires, and I think ate a few pieces as there weren’t any wire bits and pieces on the floor. Is it because of this, and should I get him checked out? He has chewed and eaten bits of my wires in the past before and nothing has gone wrong so I don’t think it’s that, but I’m still worried. I have moved the wires out of his way though, if anyone is wondering.

1 or 2 sneezes is completely normal to me, I know that Java sneezes a handful of times actually. But this is how it’s been since we got him, and it’s usually when he’s digging in his hay (so we can assume it’s being triggered by hay dust). However, if this really is extremely abnormal, then you might want to consider a vet visit. If you ever are worried, I would just go with your gut feeling.

I did have concerns about Java’s sneezing when we first got him, but I was told not to worry unless they become sneezing “fits” – meaning like sneeze, sneeze, sneeze multiple sneezes in a row. Even this has happened very occasionally to Java, but we did take him to the vet and he was completely healthy. I would just schedule a check up, just because the cold ears sounds a little odd.

But, In my opinion, I doubt there’s a connection between the wire and the sneezing. If anything, you would find symptoms of an upset stomach from the wire, but this would happen sometime by the next day, so if it’s been over a day, you’re fine. Java destroyed one of our chargers when we left it out, and I’m sure he ate some pieces, but he was fine.

Just go with your gut. If you’re just a little worried, watch him and see if anything else comes up. If you really feel like something could be wrong, schedule an appointment.

I ditto Eucalyptus. Also, just wanted to mention that cold ears are not out of ordinary either — unless your bunny is getting lethargic. Then it could be a bad sign, but since rabbits regulate their temperature through their ears, the temp of the ears can vary throughout the day from warm to cold. If the temp is a bit chilly, and they want to preserve heat, the veins in their ears will restrict, which will make the earsw feel cooler to the touch. When a rabbit needs to cool off, the veins in their ears will dilate (which will make the ears feel warmer) so that the blood running through their ears will cool off at that extremity and circulate the cooler blood back to the rest of their body.
