Bingley and I arrived Friday afternoon for winter break at my parents, which is a 3 hour drive from school. Before we left, he had a poop with gel on it, but just one. Since Friday, his poops are tiny. Some are almost normal size and some are very small. Some are round and some are like teardrops.  Today, there is less poop in his pen and litterbox than i think is normal for him. He is still eating regularly, seems to be drinking water by the level in his bowl, but he is not himself. He usually adjusts to new environments quicker, but he still seems unsure. He has been hiding under my bed for a while and is probably just sleeping, but I worry about everything he does because I want him to be spoiled.

Could his behaviour be because of the other animals? We have two cats (which I’m allergic to), a small dog while my sister is in town this week, and a bearded dragon. Bingley never sees the dragon, but the cats always sneak in a stare at him. He just stares back for a second and goes back to his hay, so I don’t think they bother him too much.

Okay, he’s out from under the bed and exploring…whew! At least this is normal

My bun Wally will every once in awhile have a few small poops and a few big poops and sometimes really big poops… His life has been pretty stable lately so I dont think the small ones are stress related and he always seems just fine when he has them and they go back to normal size fairly quickly. I am also heading home with him for a 4 hour car ride this coming week so I can understand your concern with stress, I’m pretty concerned myself but I’m sure your bun is fine. Just keep an eye and keep him active, I find Wally’s poops get bigger if they’ve been small the more he runs around.

            Hope that helps a bit

When Smokey first came back this schoolyear to a MUCH louder and wilder Pre-K class this year compared to last years, she wouldn’t eat/drink/poop at work. When she would poop, they would be about half the size, or smaller, than her at-home poops. Whenever we would go home, she would poop normal. I eventually took her out of school for a couple of weeks so the class could calm down and their teacher explain that they can’t be loud around Smokey because it would “make her sick” ( hey sometimes you have to lie to get the point across! )

But it’s been 3 months since September and she’s eating and pooping at school, so I’m guessing your bun is having stress issues like Smokey did.

              I hope Bingley feels better!

Thanks, he is doing better now and his poops are normal again. He now is having tantrums in the mornings, rattling his cage way more than normal. He really wants to explore all the time now, so its back to normal Bing.

I know Fel’s poops are smaller after we travel. He absolutely refuses to eat or drink anything during the trip. He might have been just a hair dehydrated. You did the right thing. I’m a spaz when ever we finally get to our destination. He isn’t allowed out of his pen to explore until I here the clicking of his water bottle and I see a few poops.
