Not ALARMINGLY small, but small enough to let me know that there’s some slowing down going on.

Yes, it’s heavy shedding season for Little-Bit. Her first shed, actually. So that would be my suspect cause. I also suspect that there MAY be a little carpet fiber involved as well..>>

She’s eating normally, maybe not quite as much hay as I would like, but she enhales her romaine and pellets. (And I normally give her about 7 large leaves twice a day.)

I gave her about an inch of laxatone yesterday afternoon as well as 1cc of simethcone. Her poops had returned to near normal size yesterday evening, but have reverted this morning. I also gave her a water crock as as opposed to her normal bottle, which she seems to like. I’ve given her about another inch of laxatone this morning as well as another cc of simethcone.

Aside from her poopies being smaller than normal, she’s acting fine, running around and binkying as per her normal routine. And actually, I saw her flop for the first time since she was a baby last night.

She just has small poopies and is worrying her momma. xD

My main question to you guys is, what would you do at this point? Eating, drinking, acting normally, but small poops. Also, as long as she’s eating, is there any real need for Critical Care? Most people I’ve seen immediately jump to Critical Care at the first sign of stasis, regardless of eating activity. I’m just wondering if there’s really any merit to that.

i would keep doing what you’re doing and monitoring her closely. keep track of exactly what she’s eating. keep a close eye on the litterbox, not just the size of poops, but the frequency and number.

i wouldn’t give any treats for a little while since that can throw off her balance, except for papaya tablets if you use them normally. during a shed you can increase the papaya tablet daily intake by one (so if she normally gets 1 a day, give her 2, if 2 a day is normal, then give her 3…)

as long as you’re aware of what’s going on, i think you should be able to catch anything abnormal.

One thing I see missing here is how much hay she is eating. Is she eating enough? I wouldn’t hit the Critical Care unless she wasn’t eating. I would tempt her to eat more fiber (put organic chamomile flowers in the hay) and cut out the treats. Even a little pumpkin if she likes it. That’s great you gace her a crock of water to be sure she stays hydrated. Groom her too in order to keep her from ingesting too much fur.

She’s not eating as much hay as I’d like, but she does it eat, and she eats it whenever I hand feed it to her and then leave her alone with it. (The power of suggestion is SO great with this bunny. xD)

Her poops were a little bit larger this morning, but I haven’t seen much come out of her since then. She got another inch of Laxatone and another cc of simethcone this morning. I gave her Romaine three times (each platter about about 7 or 8 large leaves) yesterday as opposed to two like I normally do.

Is Romaine a very water vegetable? I always kind of thought it was, and I HOPE it is now. Because I haven’t seen her drink an ounce of water. (Though this morning I did sneak 2cc’s into her with a syringe that still tasted like Simethcone..)

Well we’re now at near-normal output levels. She’s leaving me piles of nice healthy round ones now (in the litterbox mostly, thank God). There’s still no evidence of her having drank any water, but I guess she must be getting it from the veg. She’s been eating more hay today too.

I went through a similar period of weird obstinate “no-water-for-me!” with Binkles as well and kept her alive on watery vegetables for like…a few months. Then just magically one day, she was VERY interested in the fact that I was pouring water into her crock and just drank and drank and drank. Ugh. I hope I don’t have to do that again though. Why can’t these buns just be normal for their nervous wreck parents? Lol..

I’m curious about something…does anyone’s buns have fluctuating daily poop sizes and quantities? I have this suspicion about Little-Bit -that her poops are just smaller and less numerous during her non-active times (morning-afternoon) and larger and more numerous in her active times (late afternoon-early morning). It’s something that I THINK I had kind of noticed a little even before this episode of stasis, but I guess I never really took particular note of it until now since I’ve been scrutinizing her patterns. The same was true of both yesterday and today -a few smaller (not tiny) poops in the morning, and a BUNCH of larger ones at night. Hmm..

Ah. She began drinking from her water bottle behind me just now. Aaaaand now she stopped. xD At least I know she knows it’s still there..

Guess I’ll continue giving her 1″ of Laxatone morningly and a dose or two of Simethcone for a few more days until I’m sure this has passed.

mine have greatly reduced their water intake since fall started. they always get very wet veggies tho and are peeing and pooping like normal, so i am not concerned. i have noticed that during the day there is an absence of poop sometimes, or lower quantities… but by evening time they’re in there just filling the box up.

Yep. *hand up for flutuating bunny poop!* I find it small and few in morning then lots and larger around dinner time. Like she empties so she can fit more food in. Also have notice decline in drinking water around shed times which I think is odd!

They do it for the attention…I KNOW they do. Just to get a rise out of us! >[  (And that yuuuummy simethicone and Petromalt and extra veg!)

Hah! Well I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s bun has fluctuating excriment! Sometimes I’ll worry that Little-Bit might be going into stasis just because she leaves so few and so small in the morning, but then at night…GOSH! The heavens open up!

Yeah, Lizzy’s the same. She doesn’t eat as much hay or drink as much water as I’d like (or as Robbie does), but she’s been that way since I got her, so I guess it’s normal for her? She can’t be tricked into being hand-fed hay, either. She gets annoyed that I’m shoving things in her face, grabs the hay, and tosses it away.

Glad Little-Bit is doing okay…Any new pics? I’d love to see her all grown up!
