Both my rabbits adore the bed… The one I got as a baby used to sleep next to me on the pillow every night and during the day he would binky on it, play, sleep and even eat because he wouldn’t get off. He did pee on it, but I didn’t mind a lot. Then he suddenly stopped peeing altogether. As soon as I adopted another rabbit both of them peed excessively. I had no choice but to put a wired fence around the bed to prevent access. The problem is that they are so happy when they are on the bed they seem depressed when they are not. I barely let them but they change 360 degrees. Even now one is zooming and binkying on me (he was abused in the past so he never binkys and barely moves except on the bed) while the other is sleeping stretched out. It’s breaking my heart to keep them away from me at night. Do you perhaps know of any large bed covers that dry up immediately when peed on? Because keeping them off the bed is not an option.

you’re looking for something to cover the bed over the top of the bedding? Or a mattress cover?

Exactly! Something to cover the bed entirely.

I have a waterproof mattress cover under my sheets which protects my mattress from any pee accidents! If you’re looking for a cover for the whole bed, I don’t know if they make any for beds, but they make sofa pet covers which you might be able to use to cover most of the bed

Depending on your bed, you might be able to use a large vinyl tablecloth (with flocking on the back. You could turn it upside down so they hop on that side for traction. Or put an old sheet on top of it. You’d probably have to keep replacing that obviously..
It could get pretty warm for you under the covers though! Hopefully, if they are allowed more frequent access to the bed, they will start to stop marking after a while?
Another idea is to pop a small litterbox on end of bed or a fabric incontinence chair/bed mat with a little hay on it?

I do understand the lure of letting them up on the bed with you. My single bun does. He is good about litter habits but when he is unwell, he tends to pee on the bed then.

Does the bedroom have more slippery flooring? Could that be part of why they like to binky up on the bed so much?

ETA:  Out of curiosity, I just googled “waterproof doona cover”.  They exist!

These are brilliant ideas! I might just try these out. I’m thinking of getting a doona cover and put a sofa pet cover on top which I’ll replace if they do pee on it.

Yeah, I don’t have any carpets except for a small padded mat where they like to hang out. Is that why they don’t binky around? Though I don’t think I will put multiple mats down now… ?

Do you think they will stop marking after they are allowed frequent access? I read somewhere that bunnies tend to pee on the same spot they’ve already peed before.

Also do you have any ideas how I can prevent them from digging at and biting the sheets? Idk they’ve started doing that before I blocked access to the bed and they still do it whenever they are on it. They used to not do that in the beginning…
