Is it O.K. to sleep with your bunny at night(I mean in the same room). My mom says that they carry a deseise that can hurt us, is that true?

Rabbits carry almost no diseases that humans can catch.  Ringworm is the only one I know of that you can catch from an infected bunny.  Parasites like fleas can of course jump off of your rabbit onto you.

Not true. You can have your bunny in the same room with you. Go tell your mother that bunnies are such clean animals, they can sleep IN bed with you! Although I woldn’t recommend it. But I know people who do – people who have free range bunns who at some point in the night end up on the bed with them or licking their faces or eating their hair in the morning.

But I will tell you, if you have your bunny in your room with you, try not to give them noisey toys because, speaking from experience, it’s hard to sleep when one bunny decides that 3 am is the perfect time to start tossing his maracas around and his girlfriend jumps in with a tambourine!

haha Floppy is neutered but still likes to pee on my bed sometimes when he is on it and I leave
my room for a bit…so that is a reason to not let him on my bed but also, i’m afraid I might sqush
                him at night unknowingly.

My buns live in my room with me. Their cage is right by my bed. I like it because I can interact with them a lot. They wake up before I do and they are waiting for me to get up for breakfast.

The bad thing is that I have to make sure that the cage is clean always. If I get lazy with their litterbox, my room can get a little stinky.

But I think they like being in my room better than when they were out in the living room.

Bunnies definitely don’t carry any diseases like that. I think your mom may be thinking of birds..

I love having Binkles in my room. She’s a free-ranging bun, so occasionally she’ll hop up on my bed in the middle of the night and kiss my face/ dig in my hair.

we’ve had conversations about this before, but i will share my opinion on this again…

i prefer buns being in a communal area of the house where they are more likely to get the most attention. but if you live with your parents, i understand if you need to keep your bun in your room.  there are no health reasons not to have them there, unless maybe you are allergic to the fur.  a super clean cage is a definite must to avoid a stinky bedroom.

that being said… i love to sleep. i love QUIET when i sleep. so no… no bunny sleeping with me. besides my hubby’s snoring would probably scare her… lol!

I’ve got two bunnies in my bedroom – and the only issue I experience is if they are allowed to roam around they will hop up onto my bed and “mark” it with some territorial poops! That seemed to stop however, when I bought them their own dog bed. They seem to understand that is “their” bed and they don’t need to mark mine!

My bunny is in my room, too. We take out the noisy toys at night, because his cage is at the foot of our bed. He’s a sweetie and I like having him close. Our cat gets in and out of our bed all night and the dog wanders around from room to room checking on all of us throughout the night. LOL It’s a mad house.
