Sleep… or lack of

how much does your rabbit sleep? my sweet girl seems to sleep for abut 2 hours then gets up and makes a racket and gets out of her cage at night. She is out all day long when im home. im a sahm so that’s most days except when I run to the store or something, if we go out to visit my mom at her house or my husband at work she just comes along as another one of my kids because she loves being out.  she spends her days playing with my kids toys, loves to throw my sons hot wheels and my daughters ponies and when she gets bored with that she goes and bugs the cat until she plays for a bit so she is getting plenty of exercise. she has free run from about 6am until 11pm.  Im worried that she is not getting enough sleep, during the day she will nap for 15-20 minutes at a time being a draft stopper along the door ha. but for the past week my husband or I has to get up at about 3am to chase her back in her pen. we are going to build her a cage in a few weeks so hope her escaping will stop then but that doesn’t fix the sleeping issue. is this sleep normal for a about 9 month old. Bunnies tend to take lots of short naps, because they are prey animals, they don’t sleep a lot. They also need to get up and eat. As long as she is eating/drinking/acting fine, I wouldn’t worry.

My Henry is just like a baby (or as I remember it?). He wakes up well before me (and wakes me), then he has a mid morning nap, wakes up to eat lunch and play, then it’s time for his afternoon nap. Then he wakes up for dinner and another play, then some down time before bed. What he gets up to while I’m asleep, well, I just don’t want to know! (though I have seen evidence of a party the next morning – naughty bunny!). But unlike my kids, I don’t want him to grow up and leave home! ha ha ha…. Cheers mrs.scand3.

Rabbits are most active at dusk and dawn and, are prey animals so nap lightly for short periods rather than sleeping soundly for hours most of the time. Some will sleep soundly, especially if the house is quiet and,their favorite human is within scent range of them, they feel safest then. I wouldn’t worry about it, a rabbit will sleep when it needs to, they don’t do the “Oh I have to stay awake to do this or that.” like we do, they jsut take each moment as it comes and decide what to do on the spur of the moment.

I hope this is the right place to post this. The search is down so i was having trouble finding the right place to ask. I have a white lion head and lately it seems like he’s not sleeping enough. I find him nodding off almost to the point of his head tipping over into his food but he catches himself. He never flops only sits like a loaf of bread. He is a very nervous bun to being with. He’s eating and drinking as normal and runs around all day.
