Hi guys,
My elder bun Lily died a few weeks ago. I spent some time researching adoption agencies and choosing a new female mate for the boy bun she left behind. I recently introduced a young spayed female to him. Roscoe has been smitten ever since! They bonded almost instantly with no nipping or fighting. She was doing binkies, eating and grooming herself a few minutes after their initial greeting. They’ve now explored every room of the house together, no farther than one length apart at all times.
As much as he loves her, she’s not so fond of humans. I picked her from the shelter because she seemed to be a quiet yin to his outgoing and happy-go-lucky yang. In the cage at the agency, she was a little shy, but not terrified of me.
The only history we know of her is that she was abandoned in her cage on the sidewalk of a busy intersection a few weeks ago, right in the middle of winter. She seems to be fairly young. The shelter took her in and spayed her. How can I teach her to trust me, or is it one of those things that’s just going to take time? Can my bonded easy-going bun help?
She’s the lionhead x in the front.

So sorry to hear about Lily but it’s so nice to hear about the love at first sight between Roscoe and his new girlfriend
Given her start in life (how absolutely awful 
) I would say patience and lots of love is all that’s needed. It could take weeks or months but it might not! Hopefully she will see the interaction and trust between you and Roscoe and will feel a little more at ease. -

Aww, thank you for the condolences and the suggestions. Seeing her binky in midair out of nowhere makes me so happy, and seeing Roscoe follow her and explore the house once again is also nice. I will give it lots of time and patience. She lets us pet her face, but she doesn’t lean into it and doesn’t seem like she’s enjoying the attention.I’ve been blessed with several easy going people-approaching buns. This is a new experience for sure.
My Peanut is a very timid little rabbit, he’s getting used to being pet but he’s definitely more cautious than Buttercup and I’ve had them both for over 5 months
