Ok well i just got two rabbitd a couple of days ago.  One rabit is super calm while the other is so skittish. I have been petting her daily and trying to get her used to being around people, but after like 3 seconds of petting her, she runs and hides. Is there anything i can do to help calm her down a little. I know it requires some patience….

Congratulations on your new bunnies! Are they bonded? How old are they? If you have already posted info about it then don’t worry about posting here, I’ll find it.

The best thing you can do for a skittish bunny, is to let them go at their own pace. Just be in their presence without reaching out to them. Also don’t provide them with the freedom of the whole house at first. Let them feel safe first in their place and let them come out on their own. This could take days.

The best thing to do is just hang out on the floor near her pen (grab a few pillows, andread a book, do homework, read a magazine, whatever) Just be quiet, and have treats ready for when she comes over. When she first comes over don’t try to pet her even when she comes close. just slowly offer her a treat. If they are bonded, she may see the other bunny coming near you and nothing bad happening, and that may help her.

Don’t rush it, this may take at LEAST a week of just everyday being near her without forcing interaction. If she goes to hide, just let her hide – she needs to feel safe first.

Right now how much space does she have to explore? And when she runs and hides where does she go?

Uh, oh, this must have happened during our short-staff time and/or at least for us leaders, the lounge can be the last place we look as we scan for emergencies and priority posts. I will have to go search out the pictures!
