Skin Infection! Cannot Identify

Hello! I’ve just noticed that my female rabbit, Mochi, has a “skin infection” on her left hind leg.  It is residing under her long fur so I cannot really examine it thoroughly. But just tonight as she was doing the bunny flop and her left hind leg was showing, I’ve noticed that she bit off the fur above the “skin infection”. By the way, her fur is white.

The infected area, which is circle in shape and white in color, is about the size of a contact lens, and when you touch it it’s kinda flaky but hard to remove. I can see the skin on the corner of the circle thingy is reddening. If I’ll touch it she doesn’t react to it so I think she’s not that hurt but I think it’s bothering her.

Do you guys know what infection is this called? I really don’t have an idea since it is mochi’s first time to have this kind of infection. I need to know what it is so that I could find a solution for it. Thank you so much!!

I can’t bring Mochi to the vet, either since there are no experienced vets for rabbits here in my place.

It may be ringworm.

She can’t stop licking it! Is this ok? Will the infection transfer to her mouth?

Ditto Sarita-might be ringworm. We could certainly help you find a rabbit vet, but certainly any vet should be able to treat a skin infection. It’s important to have a rabbit vet for gi stasis or mystery stuff, but ringworm is pretty standard so I bet your regular vet could prescribe something. And who knows they may be able to communicate with a vet somewhere else who can help out Worth a try-see if you can see a vet monday

IF it is ringworm, know it can be contagious to you too. But don’t freak out, it’s very easy to treat. (also, just in case you are not familiar with ringworm, it’s not really a worm, but a type of fungal infection.)

HELLO GUYS! Sorry for the very late reply!

I am currently staying in the Philippines (Davao to be specific) to study english language. The vets here in Davao don’t know how to handle rabbits. One vet(who treat dogs) told me I could bring my Tofu(my first bunny) but the “treatment” she gave didn’t help Tofu and died after a week. She even charged me A LOT ugh i hate her. It was traumatizing for my part so I am not gonna bring Mochi to any vet here in our place. :'( That’s why I’m just researching and asking you guys here on the internet

Mochi is recovering by herself! She managed to remove the white crusty part and I noticed she isn’t grooming/licking the infected part anymore Thank you for all your help, they were really informative and helpful I have researched a lot about ringworm on rabbits. She did binkies 2-3 times per day, a week. She’s such an active bunny! Her boyfriend Ramyeon is okay, he was not infected with Mochi’s ringworm.

Glad to hear Mochi is doing better.

I wouldn’t write off vets just from one bad experience. Certainly an animal can pass away even after seeing a vet. I found two vets in the area of the phillipines you said you are in, just in case
