I’ve had my two girls, Juno and Jezebel since they were three months old. They were both spayed and until now, haven’t really had any problems with them, they’ve had the odd spat, that’s all. They turned three in August. They both go to the vets together as Jezebel regularly requires dentals and so now does Juno. They both had to have dentals within a week of each other but since then they’ve been fighting to the extent bloods been drawn and have now had to be separated. Like I say, they always go to the vets together so could understand if this was due to one of them returning smelling different. Any idea why this has happened and how I can reintroduce them? They’ve always loved each so it’s heartbreaking to see them like this!

I’m so sorry for your bond mate issue! Whenever I read about bond break ups it breaks my heart.

I’m a bit confused. Did they go to the vet separate or together before the break up? If they went separate and hadn’t before then that could have caused the issue. If they went together they both should have smelled the same. Do they have check ups before their dental treatments? If not, it might be a good idea to rule out any medical issues causing one or both to be extra crabby. Sometimes these things spiral as well. A fight can lead to negative association and more fights occur. Did anything else change? New pet, new furniture, etc? How long have they been separated?

Hi, thanks for the reply. They went to the vets together before the break up. I thought initially it might have been due to Jezebel being in pain with her teeth that might have made her aggressive but there’s no change in her behaviour.
They have regular check ups as they’re at the vets fairly often anyway and nothings been noticed.
Nothing else has changed so I don’t get it!
I’ve got Juno in a dog crate next to Jezebels cage so they can both see/smell each other.
Just a bit of a nightmare as my degus started fighting a few months ago and they’re currently in the reintroduction phase. So i’ve got cages everywhere!

Wonder if it has anything to do with the Degus…are they in the same area? Just a thought. It doesn’t make much sense to have such bonded bunnies just start fighting who have been together so long.

Hi Sarita, I live in a studio flat an so we’ve always shared a room.
It must be something to do with the vets as it started after Juno had her dental and got worse a few days later after Jezebel had hers but they always accompany each other (I learnt that lesson the hard way a couple of years ago)
