Hello All!
I have two little girls named Melody and Symphony, they are both spayed and 1 yr & 5 mths old. I’ve had them since they were 2 mths. There sister and had never been apart a day in their lives until recently Melody (dominate one) broke her leg and had a cast on for the last six weeks. Of course I had to keep them separated but they were still together while she had the cast on. I put Mel in the cage and Sym in the connecting playpen, so they could still see and touch noses. They would groom each other through the bars and Sym would try to get into the cage.
Mel got the the cast off about a week ago and I have been focusing on letting her get back to 100% so shes now back to being mobile and free. I recently tried putting them back together and everything went fine at first they were sniffing each other, and feeling each other out again and all of a sudden Sym would starts stomping her foot and making this weird whining noise and running away and that’s when the fur starts to fly and their fighting. It looks like Mel is chasing Sym which makes no sense cause Mel doesn’t seem to be making any threatening movements. I’ve tried several times but every time its the same thing. I want them to be back to normal but I also can’t risk Mel breaking her leg again so their back to separate but together. I really need some help, keeping them separate is a pain and I could NEVER give up one of my babies. Any advice would be welcome!
