Simple conclusion??

So, after vacuuming for like the fifth time today and whinging that it’s all I seem to do these days. My husband rolls his eyes and says “perhaps the better option would be to not put Arwy in the den? That way it will stay clean.” Honestly I’m not a clean freak, but sometimes, I swear our bunny is testing the limitations.

One option was to lay planks down along the bottom of the door of her den so the bedding wouldn’t fly out every time she starts her bunobatics (my word for bunny mad hour lol). But that didn’t go down too well, considering we wouldn’t be able to see her as often. So I guess I’m wondering if anyone out there is in a similar situation? How you solved it? Arwen’s den is raised off the ground and is home made by using the top of a dining table, so maybe about 30cms off the ground (if that helps?).

Is the litter/hay mainly coming from being tracked from the litter boxes? If so, I recommend a litter screen and having a higher walled litter box. If you click on my user profile and look at my photo album, you’ll see my Wick’s litter box set up that eliminates tracking hay and bedding everywhere.

If you have bedding in a sleeping area for her, you can replace it with a fleece blanket or something else that can be washed and is less messy! Also it helps for litter training not to have bedding elsewhere than the litter boxes.

We tried so many things until we found something that MOSTLY contains hay and litter. We have two litter trays that fit into a bigger under bed storage box, which is probably around 20cm high. Hay goes between the two litter trays in an IKEA plastic bag container.

Then, the whole thing is in a wooden hutch that my dad built, that has a little 10cm lip that they have to hop over, which helps stop hay being dragged around. I also have a small rug on either side of the hutch which gathers any bits of hay floating around.

Basically there’s a lot of trial and error, but it is possible to mostly contain bunny mess

I use a litter screen now… ever since someone decided that emptying out the litter box onto the floor was a good idea. It helps keep litter in the litter box in general. Then I also have some small rugs underneath the litter box.
