i am achin’ for another bun today.  bad.

i’ve been scrolling petfinder this morning.  i…. even checked craigslist… (i know… BAD BEKA!  you don’t have to tell me.)

what to do, what to do…

we’re going to be doing some house rearranging soon… i could remove Mead’s Marchioro cage and just give her the enclosure.  she’s perfectly trained.  i could use said cage as a temp. housing solution.  i could…

        sigh…

^^^yeah.  i don’t take acquiring pets lightly at all.  when i decided i wanted another bun (after my first, Stephen, passed a couple years before) it was almost a full year before i actually got Meadow.  i need to make sure it’s the right fit for us, for my son, and now for Mead.

              look at this guy… http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7894767

and this guy… he’s gorgeous but it sort of says that he might not get along with another bun.  he’s a mini rex mix.  http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8511764

              i’m strongly considering…

They are cute – Tigerr does not look like a mini-rex to me though even though they say he is a mix, more like a lop mix to me.

Let us know what you decide :~) Whatever bunny you decide on will have the best home ever and will be extremely lucky.

^^^i thought that too, but he looks like he has the signature curly whiskers.

awww…. Sarita! you’re so sweet. i know i could provide such a wonderful home, that i almost feel guilty NOT rescuing another bun.

my husband just came home and i got the “official go-ahead” nod from him on the first bun… SO I CALLED THE PHONE NUMBER! they weren’t there but i left a message. i think this rescue does not have an actual place, i think they use foster homes for their buns.

I am so nervous. the more i think of him, the more i want him. please wish me luck guys…

Again, I am always wary about getting pets from lists on the internet. Unless they’ll let you bring Meadow with you to meet the new bun, I’d be careful. I can’t stress enough the importance that bunny dates take in finding a good mate.

i’d definitely be seeing if i could bring Mead. like i said, i left a message (saying i have a bunny i would be trying to bond) so i’m waiting to hear back… that’s one of the first questions i have.

They seem like a small and responsible rescue to me just based on their petfinder website.

Oh Mugwug!!! He’s adorable. I want him. Since Tigerr wants to be King of the Castle that would probably make the Queen crazy. I know how you feel believe me. I look at all the bunnies up for adoption and just ache too. I keep reading that bunnies really like a friend. I feel a little guilty. I am just so afraid of the bonding process. I have such a good thing going why rock the boat…

I have to agree with Marcusdark. I also thought the first one looked like a lop version of Meadow!
You know, if you have a craving for a 2nd bunny, instead of looking first and judging by appearances, you could plan a trip with Meadow for some speed dating to see how she likes the whole idea. You don’t yet know what she is like around other rabbits, so maybe she’ll pick one for you, or make it clear she’s a solo bunny. You’d be spending more time with her too, which would be nice for you both.

BTW, learned something new again today. I didn’t know that curly whiskers were a signature of mini rexes. Frankly, I just thought Spockie happened to have short, wirey little whiskers and it was just who he was, like the long tail. They were curly!

Well, the two sable colored rabbits, Coco & Hershey Kiss, are also cute neutered males so they could be possibilities as well.

oh, I know that feeling, Beka, that’s how I got 4 (I swear I am just babysitting this 5th one, someone in their family has said they want him after it’s over. My friend’s father is passing away and the rabbit is his, she asked me to watch him since everyone is pretty much staying at the hospital)

But, he’s a cutie, looks alot like my Pringles.

I was on Craigslist today and now I feel really stupid. A young girl (teenager I think) was ‘upset’ that she was having to rehome her 2 rabbits, was only working 15 hours a week, parents house, couldn’t afford to even pay their basic feed, etc. Everyone was giving he advice, garage sales, asking at the store for leftover produce.

I was feeling so bad for her I was about to ask if I could send her a care box of pellets, hay, etc to last a couple of months, when I checked her handle history and she was on 10 DAYS ago all excited about the two ferrets she had just gotten. So, I don’t think she was as heart broken as she seemed to me at first, (she didn’t even mention the ferrets in her posts about the rabbits.) I think they were just in the way now and had I sent her a gift certificate for rabbit feed, it would probably have been spent on the ferrets…..not that’s there’s anything wrong with ferrets, but still!

I gotta stay off that site. sigh.

yeah, i have every intention of bringing Mead with me… if they don’t get along, then they don’t get along. i need to find out if they have an actual rescue where i can see everyone… that would be ideal. i looked at Coco and Hershey, they are at a foster home, which makes me believe all the buns are kept at homes. Youngstown is a drive for me (about 90 minutes each way), but i am willing to do it. as far as the appearances thing, i agree wholeheartedly, but my husband is dead set on a lop-eared rabbit. he was when we got Mead too, but look who we ended up with. i really think that he would veto another straighty… as sad as that is.

kralspace… that is frustrating! how irresponsible… i hope her ferrets bite and then pee on her… lol.

I know how you feel. Hubby asked me if I was done at the fair. I said yes, but I’d be glad to go buy that lion head. He said if we go back to the bunny area, I’m leaving you there. I said ok. I”m done. Let’s go before I get into trouble. (Read my post the fair.) heheh

Hummmm…bunnies are like potato chips. Except for that you don’t eat them, but you still can’t stop at one. ^^
That’s how I wound up taking care of two, when I was happy enough with just my Mimzy. But you see those eyes just begging and tearing up hoping for an adoption…oh wait…those are my eyes. j/k
I agree that both buns are adorable! I love the little black and white spotted loppies. If I ever get another bun (yeah right) it will be one of those if I can swing it.
I have my hands full with my thuringer and my daughter’s half-lionhead. I think I’m set for the next ten years or so. Plus the other animals we have, it’s just getting to be too much for me in my old age. >.<

Please let us know what happens Beka, I am on the edge of my seat for you!

ooo Mimz is right – as someone with three buns i often have to stop myself from admiring any other buns at the haven adoption shows too much!
