Sick bunny back in regular cage with other bunny? acting weird

Hello about two weeks ago my bunny had gotten E cuniculi where he had a minor head tilt and kept rolling around in circles spazzing out and rolling his eyes. We brought him to the Vet immediately and they had given him a dewormer Albendazole and has been taking it everyday. From day one he has been getting better, a few days in he was moping around not really hopping but dragging himself, and now he is kind of hopping around but dragging his feet sometimes and kinda still off balance. He is back to eating regular foods and drinking from a water bottle feeder. We decided to put him back with his other bunny girlfriend which had always been caged with and they loved each other. And now she just runs over to him and licks his eye and kind of looks like she bites it, then runs behind him and tries to mount him and sometime trys to dig into him i guess? Its weird . Are my bunnys trying to fight, should i keep them in the same cage again? Or are they becoming territorial ?

 

My one bunny that is sick just seemed to be really really bored in the cage we had him resting in when he was sick, with toys and everything but he always looked across the room back to the other cage where the girlfriend was, so we just figured he wanted to be back in there with her, but now they both seem to be acting weird.

 

Whats happening here? Any advice?

They lived together for 4 years.

I think she’s just trying to reestablish the relationship – it’s never good to separate bonded bunnies if at all possible. It’s good that you have put them back together and it will probably help the sick rabbit heal.

I’d keep an eye on it, but Sarita is right, they are back where they should be. Don’t separate them again unless the fighting gets serious.

I’m going through the exact same thing you are!! Although I’ve chosen to keep my girls separated until Pippin is done with her antibiotics. If anything, my non sick bunny is the one who seems depressed. Pippin is living the royal life in the living room (where I frequently am) and poor Bella is off in the kitchen area which doesn’t get as much traffic. They still do several playtimes a day together in the living room and are acting totally normal together so I know they’ll be fine when I join them again in the same cage. At least I hope so.
