We reintroduced Sugarbear and Cinabun today, a week after Shuggy’s surgery because he is very persistantly trying to sit by her.  He mounted her after a few seconds (20 maybe) of sniffing and making a buzzing sound.  She did not fight or try to get away. We broke it up after a few seconds.  He was in an aroused state (wood).

Was he just showing dominance or is he still under the influence of hormones?

The buzzing sounded like an alarm on a am/fm alarm clock.

If this is normal how long should we allow it to happen?

Shug has limited access to Cinny’s fenceline and likes to hang out there.  Cinny doesn’t seem to mind but she does seem aware that he cannot get through the fence.

There is usually always a dominant rabbit so it could be dominance. Well, you have to gauge Cinnabun’s reaction as to how long you let it go. She may be fine and she may try to get away when she’s ready.

After only a week, he still has a ton of hormones going through his system. Best to wait until they are totally gone, and he’s all healed up. Wait a couple more weeks.

When his hormones go away will he still get wood?

Is it ok to leave them in “through fence contact or is that harmfull to bonding?

              ?

Should be fine provided there’s no biting through the cage. Looks like they would be able to anyway.

When his hormones go away will he still get wood?

lol. I don’t know……My buck still does that hum sometimes and has been trying to mount over the last couple months. He’s been fixed for a couple years. I guess they have a certain level of hormones still in their systems always.
I’ve heard my Doe do that hum too post spay when she seems super content.

My Max humps Meadow daily, sometimes several times a day, but I’ve honestly never looked close enough to see if he were in an aroused state, or if he just positioned himself over her. I agree tho, that after only a week, he is still going to be hormonal. It’s okay to have them side by side with a fence as long as neither is trying to bite thru the fence. It’s looks like the opening are small enough too that they might not be able to bite, so that’s good.

I’m sorry, off-topic, but does it say something about blood on that towel underneath Cinabun?? Good thing Sugarbear can’t read.
