My two rabbits come to me already bonded (when they lived with their old owner, there was a third, but he wasn’t for sale). My rabbits’ relationship is troubled, to say the least. It used to be that sometimes, Peter would chase Benji a little, but now Benji’s been chasing Peter… A few day ago, they got into a fight; chasing, fur flying, ect. I don’t knew who was chasing who, but they both were very stressed and scared at the end. I actually had to grab Peter to get them to stop.

They have done stuff like this before, but never really this bad. It could that they haven’t had their pellet food for a few weeks (it’s been delayed). I’ve been feeding them greens and hay, but it’s quite obvious they miss the pellets. I also don’t think their old owner bonded them the right way, so that, too, could be a problem.

Should I seperate them for a while? Try to re-bond them?  I don’t really have place to move one of them, but if it’s necessary, I could figure out something.

I’m a bit afriad now that the boys will hurt if they keep this up… what should I do?

Hmmm, are they neutered?  Did either of them injure each other?

Food security does seem like it can affect bonds a bit, but it is more likely that they changed location, or the fact that they were in a trio before and they dynamic changed.

I think some bonding sessions will help. If they hurt each other, then you should fully separate and give them time to heal. If they haven’t hurt each other, you can do some bonding sessions in neutral territory and see how that goes. I like to make temporary housing out of NIC cube grids, so that’s one option if you need to separate.

Yes, they are neutered. They didn’t hurt each other. They seem to be getting along again, mostly. I’ll try a few bonding sessions and see it that works. Thank you!

              Sounds like a good plan!
