Update:  We decided not to do the bonding now because my boyfriend would be away for the weekend, and I didnt want to start bonding yesterday and then stop for 4 days (i needed someone to help).

So here I go, putting it off again!

That naughty bunny of mine!  We just built her a new cage last night out of the NIC cubes and she escaped overnight!!!!!!!!!!!!  This was Elvira, my non-bonded bunny.

When I woke up, she was lying next to Flops and Obbie’s cage, out on all fours, poop EVERWHERE.  some of her fur was around, they probably got in a few scuffles through the cage.  my question is, should i jumpstart the bonding now that she stayed out with them all night, fought a little bit and was lying comfortably next to their cage the next morning?  should i bond them all separetely or the three together?

i was upset that she got out, i fixed the problem, i am just trying to look at the bright side and am glad no one got seriously hurt.

        Opinions?

Well they’ve seen each other. Just interacting through the cage is a good way to start bonding. Are all your buns altered? Female bunnies tend to be a bit aggressive at puberty. Were you going to get her spayed before bonding?

all 3 are spayed or neutred but they have always shown aggression pretty badly even after.  they are over puberty i think, all about 2 1/2- 3 years old.

If you weren’t planning on jumpstarting bonding – I wouldn’t start nutil you are ready. The fact that she was next to their cage doesn’t necessarily mean they made any bonding progress on their own…I have two boy buns that used to FLOP next to each other’s cages, but then one day they met each other for a bonding attempt and there was fur flying and a spiral and my BF got bitten (moral of the story – wear oven mitts when bonding ). So you don’t have to worry that you lose any time or advantage if you don’t start bonding them right away. However, if you were planning on bonding, it is good that they have at least met each other – however you might want to resecure Ms. Houdini bunny because you don’t want them having any unsupervised introductions – because if they fight or if she manages to get IN the other cage – there could be some nasty fighting or bites.

I have an escape artist bunny as well….one day he broke into my other boy’s cage!! I always think its amazing how curious buns are and how they are able to find their way out of anything..

oh, my buns are ALWAYS OVER-supervised during bonding.  i get so tense.  i have had some unsuccessful introductions in the past so i gave up for about a year.

my bunnies obbie and elvira always escape despite my LOCK-DOWN efforts.  LOL.  my lop flops is too fat and slow to escape.  HAHA

hahaha poor flops i hve one bunny who is a loud escaper (will rattle and shake the cage until it opens) and one bunny who is sneaky, one minute you look up and *poof* he’s outside the cage. I always do a double take and say “wait—what side of the cage does he belong on?” I was so scared for Raymond because Kramer hopped OUT of his cage and IN to Raymond’s cage that I clothespinned a sheet over Raymond’s ex-pen and called it his “cabana” (even hung a tiki bar sign outside of it!)

Raymond makes a strong colada Sometimes he’ll invite Juli over for a drink just to make Kramer jealous…o the scandals of having 7 buns!
