Alright   Got the filter and bag for shop vac. Walmart had it. I got 2 of each. And away I went this morning. I swept the bathroom of HB’s chewed shredded paper bag. Dumped litterboxes washed them dried them cleaned the bottom of the 2 cages.

Used my yellow vac those little eureka things. It sucks up all the hair off the rugs with out sucking up the rug.  Then I shake the rugs vaccuum again. Then get shop vac for all the hay the other vac didn’t pic up.  And mop

I can’t believe how nice the floors are.  Nothing is sticking to my feet ahhhh heaven.   Nothing better than a clean floor.

Now lets see how long it stays that way?  What an hour if I am lucky.  Yep.  I see little hay pieces.

OH well.  As long as we are all happy. Who cares.

        HOw was your day?

I feel like chatting a lot can you tell?

I gotta go groom Ruby then HB then hopefully come on the chat and find someone there hopefully.

If hubby doesn’t want all my attention.  HEhhee.

I like that he has time for me. Can’t complain now can I .

I find that with hardwood floors we have to vacuum alot because the dust turns into little dust tumble weeds. Our Roomba is broken at the moment so I am noticing a huge difference within just a couple of days.

The bunny room is disaster right now because Jack has suddenly gotten into the habit of digging at his hay. There must some some extra tasty pieces buried in this batch. So hay is everywhere.

Thank goodness for the shopvac. Though I don’t use the bags, for some reason they didn’t work well with mine, so I just take it outside and hose the inside off when it gets too dusty.

Yeah I did the bagless thing too.    Thats how the filter got moldy that wet dirt I vacummed up.

            Filters aren’t much $

Yeah hay  and yesterdays news all over already.  Jack must be enjoying his hay big time Cotton and Ruby like the treat hay the brome and oxbow botanical right now.  OH they are so happy.

Can anyone recommend a specific brand of Shopvac? I got a mini one and it really didn’t do the trick. I’m willing to buy a large one but want to make sure it’s worth the $$$$.

This is the one I use:

                http://shopvac.com/vacs/detail.asp?ID=68&HdnSource=overview&StoreID=

We have it hung up in the bunny room and I have a long hose that  reaches all corners of the room.  It’s not the quietest one around for sure but I have trained the bunnies to let them know when I am about to vacuum so they aren’t startled. (I say “vacuum” three times.)   Rucy doesn’t care if we vacuum right up to her, but Jack, with his big ears, will usually go into his hidey box before I turn it on.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Many of the larger shop vacs have this little plastic flow deflecter shield things on the inside entry of the vac.  My husband would cut the size of the deflector in half.  Because though those might be useful for nails, metal etc rushing into the shopvac base, hay would get stuck there.   But once he cut it in half, it did just fine.

The hanging version doesn’t have a large deflector thing so it was fine the way it was.  I got the most powerful one though.

I have a little 3 gallon  4.5 horse power.   it does pretty good. With the hay bales from the feed store though it gets stuck sometimes and I run a long pipe down the hose to unplug it.

I find that sometimes when the bag is gettin g1/2  full that screw on piece with the thing sticking out of it gets plugged so I have to change the bag and it does great

I like mine.          With regular hay from the pet store it works a lot better

That should do the trick! My Dustbuster has done wonders, but we just added another bun who is having serious litter box challenges and I feel like I need to bring in the big guns. As far as the regular vacuum goes–one of my buns likes to attack it, and the other is so non-plussed that she will let me use the hose attachment to vacuum her of loose fur (in very brief spurts).
Thanks for the shop vac tip.

I like the shop vac because it picks up the hay very well without getting clogged(along with poop – which is easy) , but a really great quick poop picker-uper is the the cordless shark upright.  The model I bought is no longer available and it was 29.99, but I think their updated version is $10 more, but it picks up poop like a charm and actually does very well with hay too (unless it’s getting full, and then it just rotates the hay back out)

Here is the link to it http://sharkvac.com/productDetails.aspx?ProdID=PPf1qntRBTA%3d&CatID=lfh0uJKcZgk%3d

Of course this works for buns like mine who don’t have a cage, but they have poop flyouts of the litterbox and lately, Rucy has had some off and on good and bad poop habits near the box.
