hi everyone, so Benji has been shedding alot. It is just turning to spring where we live, so he could just be going through a moult. also it is mostly just near his butt and there are no specific spots where you can see he has bald spots. Could it just be his winter coat coming off? I am definitely not very worried as it hasn’t gotten worse and seems to be slowing down. I was just wondering if anyone has any grooming tips or anything like that. thanks for your help

My rabbits shed really bad twice a year and they tend to look a little rough around the edges during those times. To me, it sounds like molting. My rabbits HATE being brushed but, they like to be plucked! I sort of loosely grab their coat and pull the loose hair out. This is also prime time to see strings of pearls so make sure they’re eating plenty of hay and drinking plenty of water☺️.

My bunny seems to always molt most around the butt too. If Benji doesn’t mind, you can lightly pluck the fur or/and just brush normally.

ok, thank both of you so much. he doesn’t seem to mind if I pluck the hair lightly, so I will try to do that

Yes, my bunny just went through that himself…Think only a little around the butt is hanging on, otherwise he’s shed quite a lot. I bought a bamboo brush (which said it felt like petting) and he didn’t mind it at all, though I also did some plucking
