Hogeeze, we just went through a big shed…now Fiver is going down to velvet on the center of his back again.

Now I know that it’s probably weather related, it’s been in the 80’s or high 70’s for the last week here, but I just want to be sure this is not related to some kind of nutritive deficiency. He eats either unlimited timothy hay or orchard grass, about 2 teaspoons of pellets each night (any more and he gets plump) and two servings of fresh, wet greens per day (usually green leaf lettuce or romaine) so that he stays well hydrated. Fresh water in his bottle each day as well. He also gets either a barley biscuit or an APD cookie after his pen is cleaned as a treat.

Does that sound okay? He could use a bit more exercise, but he and the other two bunnies don’t like to move much during the day lately due to the heat.

Luckily he’s been very cooperative today with my plucking the loose fur off his back…it’s not easily removed everywhere though, so I just stick to the simple stuff and groom as much as he’ll allow.

          Yep, his diet is good.

He’s hot. He’s taking off his fur coat. Give him a wading pool and a beer and he’ll feel better.

Hot 70’s 80’s  oh to be so lucky.   I didn’t know Alaska had those temps either.

lol the fur coat a beer and a wading pool.  Good one.

Sounds like a lot of shedding coming on.

As far as he greens go, does he only get one type? Just lettuce? Though I think that your bunny is just going through a normal molt, I would try and give more of selection of greens UNLESS he is sensitive to them.

Yes, I’ve tried a number of different greens, and sadly, the green leaf lettuce is the only one he can eat without having soft stools (and that only once per day). I am sure he is disappointed too.
Couldn’t even give him fresh hayseed and dandelions from outside..one, he was suspicious as heck about them and two, once he tried them, we had a major cleanup afterwards.
All the warm blooded creatures are suffering here right now with the heat though. The dogs, the cats, the bunnies…and the people. >.< I've not had such a miserably hot summer in awhile.
Mr. Fishy is the only one who isn’t unhappy. I may jump in his swimming pool with him.
