Shedding, peeing, digging

I have a mini lop, daisy, who is 2 and has been spayed about a year ago. Daisy is shedding something awful, i have tried the furminator and the brushes from petsmart, etc.I really need something to get the fir off of her, a lint roller works pretty well but doesnt get it all.

Also daisy likes to jump up on the loveseat in my living room and im sitting on the couch. She gets up there and digs, and bites…this is bad because it can make a hole.

And the other night she got out of her cage (not sure how) and the only thing that she did that I can find all night long was pee on the couch in several spots. This is very frustrating and I have no idea why she is doing it

Here lately she has also been digging, scratching and biting at anything she can even if its a person

I think the best thing is to not let her get on the couch if she is using this to dig – some rabbits just have to dig.

She may have peed on the couch because she could not get back to her box in the cage…did she get back or was she out all night?

Shedding, unfortunately, is something that we humans cannot do very much about. I think that the furminator is usually what is recommended as one of the best, so I’m not sure of anything better I can recommend.

As far as digging on the couch, I would recommend buying a cheap fleece blanket and putting it up on her favorite spot, that way she can still visit the couch with you, but she can dig at the fleece blanket instead of the couch!

The peeing on the couch could be from what Sarita mentioned, she may not have been able to get back to her box. Also, it could be her “marking” the couch. The couch and the bed are two of the MOST favorite places of bunnies to mark because they smell so strongly of us humans.

As far as the scratching, I think she is requesting pets from you My bunnies also scratch at my knee to get pets from me, and I kind of like it because I feel like it is one of their ways of talking to me!

I also keep old blankets and pillows on our couches. Meadow loves to hop up there and dig/rearrange the blankets. Have you tried a diggy box for her to get out some of that digging behavior? It is a natural behavior, and many times rabbits have to find areas in their home that can best satisfy those urges. That usually ends up being the couch, bed, or carpeting.

I don’t know why, but when rabbits dig, they pee. And they do it on couches. So you’ll have to make sure she can’t get on there. Use a shower curtain when you aren’t on the couch (protects against pee and repels bunnies), or flip the cushions up so she doesn’t want to jump up there.

Her shedding sounds like an average heavy molt. I know your frustration with the brushes, I find the best way to get the fur off the bunny is to put the bunny in my lap and let the fur cover my clothing naturally
Just kidding!! Just keep brushing, every single day. She may end up with some bald looking spots if she’s shedding heaviliy-that’s normal; She may even change coloring in some places as well-normal too And vaccum every day too if you can -just to keep up with it

At the beginning of winter, Coco had her really heavy molt – so heavy I worried I would have to craft a bunny toupee from the loose fur.

She responded best to Plucking. I would lay on the floor and pluck/rub her until she ran away – then I would wet my hands and do a slicker all over her.
Of course there was more fur to be plucked the following day, and this went on for about a month..but, I figured it was better than her ingesting it all.

As to peeing. I got nothin’. I have a rabbit who pees ON my husband when he is in the bed. I’ve been caging her at night, as that is when she seems to be pee-marking the bed and that helps.

And your title to the post made me think of an old R&B song…with the words replaced “So I’m Sheddin’ and peein’ and diggin’ and scratchin'”
