shedding in clumps?

Oreo has suddenly started shedding, which I’ve been anticipating since I know it’s about that time, what with the weather warming up finally. The thing is, she’s only shedding on her backside and over her hind legs and she is shedding in clumps. I brushed her a few days ago and the fur just came out in giant wads. I didn’t think anything of it since I’ve heard of explosion molt, though I don’t remember the buns I had as a child shedding this way. Today she seems to have more clumps of hair coming out and over the same places that I had already brushed the loose fur a few days ago. I wouldn’t be so bothered by it except for the fact that it’s still wads of fur, not just loose strands and in the same place that it happened just a few days ago. Can someone tell me if this is an explosion molt and if that’s normal? Like I said, the buns I’ve had before never shed like this so of course my over protective/crazy mind is thinking all kinds of horrible things, like alopecia She’s also been drinking more water than normal, which I’ve heard is typical during shedding?

Off topic, as I’m typing this, she just darted across the room in what I would’ve normally considered a binky except that she was growling the entire time, with no provocation. Sometimes I think she has a few loose screws so it’s a good thing she’s so darn cute

Yes, some bunnies molt in big clumps. I always find the clumps of fur to be more toward the back and tail, where bunnies can’t easily groom themselves.

LoveChaCha, Oreo tooth purrs when I pluck them out instead of brushing. I think she enjoys making me groom her the tedious way

Lolli sheds in clumps. When she’s molting, I start calling her a bum cause she looks all scraggly and bum-ish. lol I’ll pluck and brush her and it makes her look a bit better for like 5 minutes. Then she’s back to looking like a bum. haha

Don’t know what to tell you about the growling except that’s funny. Lolli frequently growls when she’s fed. I know it’s food related, but there is seriously NO ONE messing with her or her food. Guess she just has to make sure.

Michelle&Lolli, Oreo definitely has that ‘bum’ look right now too. And that’s too funny about Lolli’s growling at her food! Oreo binkied and growled in the direction of a large chest of drawers that has always been in her room. Crazy bunny

I know! What a lucky slave to have a bun who likes grooming! Lolli will sit there, but she usually gets all huffy about it. Literally, sits there and huffs. haha

Hehe she loves for me to groom her, as long as it’s not with an actual brush. But she’ll sit there and let me pluck at her loose fur and then when I stop I get this look like “Well what did you stop for?!” Demanding little girl

How long should I expect it to take for her to finish shedding?
