Got any good pointers for the insanely shedding bunny? Boston’s been shedding to the extreme for about 8 months now…never seems to let up. We furminate her pretty regularly, but it doesn’t seem to help. Now that she’s sharing a bedroom w/ the boyfriend (used to have the whole apt., but he’s living w/ his parents now) we’re really trying to stop the shedding so it doesn’t get all over his clothes….and he’s treatening to shave her  Help! Please?

Could you be possibly over-furminating her and so she is continually growing hair which then is shoving out the old on more regular bases? Just a thought. The furminator is infamous for taking off too much hair.

Jack and Vivian are just at the tail end (literally) of a couple of months of major molt. Jack had the heaviest molt I had EVER seen. He looked like a sheep. His fur was all lumpy and disheveled. I even talked to the vet about it and she said that since Jack had been through a stressful period of time. (Rucy’s death, meeting Vivian, going through surgery) that many times a very heavy shed will happen after that.    I kept a damp wash cloth around to wipe my face from all the highly annoying floating dander and fur.

The furminator was my first thought as well. Try stopping that for a while, and just brush her and wipe her with damp hands. I got a Hair Buster Comb that works nicely as well. She may be stressed from the move, too.
