Bun’s always been snotty about my messing with her cage while she’s in there, but I pushed my luck today. I had pushed her literbox back into the corner, and she lunged at me. And I was like oh thats nice Bun, thanks, and I pet her. Well, she lifted her head up and bit the cr*p out of the palm of my hand. I’m bleeding and it will probably bruise. I’ve had her since May and even though I do know she is territorial about her cage, she has never gone this far, usually I can pet her in her cage and it’s not an issue. She has never bitten me before or showed signs that she would. My had hurts I guess I really won’t mess with her in her cage anymore. No craisins for her today, or tomorrow. God I am so glad my baby bunny is so sweet….cringing about teenager life, but then snip snip of whatever genitals she/he has.

I imagine that having another rabbit in the house may have something to do with it too. I would not punish her by not giving her treats though – she won’t really understand why.

Some rabbits are just funny about you messing with their stuff – kind of like teenagers don’t want you in their room :~) I cannot remember if Buns is altered or not either at this point – could be another reason as well. Hormones.

My rabbit Pepe bites me frequently too – I think it’s just one of those prey instinct things – he’s free roam and about 5 years old and had the snip quite a while ago. I think he’s just wired this way.

Similar thing happend to me only the other day! I did bruise and it was tender for days, only now starting to go down, but people had a good few reasons why she may of done it, have a look at the thread about “Mouse” might give you some ideas.

Yea I can’t deny Bun of her craisins even if she is a dwarf brat. But really she got me good!

Thanks Sally, I’ll take a looksy!

I agree with Sarita. You might even have the scent of the new baby bun on you and when you touched Bun’s things she got territorial.

I agree, its probably cuz of the new baby. Bun isn’t liking the smell of the new bunny on you when you are cleaning HER house. Might want to clean her house before you have any contact with the new bunny each day.

I just suggested to Sally to get a tetanus shot after a bite.
It’s a good idea for anyone who hasn’t had one within the past ten years. It’s a good precaution.

                      OUCH!!! Yeh-they HURT!!

I’d make peace with craisins instead of war by withholding them
