I adopted my bunny last Thursday. I thought she was doing well until today when I was sitting in her large x-pen. I’ve been in there before and she would just be in a corner. However, when I was in there today (just sitting and reading and spending time with her), she approached me and BIT me! It really, really hurt so I squealed loudly, said “no” and turned away from her. Another time when I gave her food, she bit me again. Should I leave her alone or should I try to be inside the x-pen again? I’m kind of afraid of her now!

I would also like to add that she’s already neutered and is 3 years old.

I am not sure about whether or not you should press her down after biting you since you just got her.  And the squealing didn’t help?  OH dear.  I would still spend time with her.  Maybe she is tasting you or wants you to move your arm or leg or something.

Is the x-pen her “home” or is this another area?  How long has she been spayed?

did she lunge, growl or box either time she bit you? did she bite hard enough to break your skin or was it a good & hurtful pinch? if other aggressive behaviours were absent i wonder if the biting is less aggression and more for attention?

when i first got my bunny pinky she would also hop over to where i was sitting on the floor in her room and randomly bite me. i think this was testing me. it was never a bite hard enough to draw blood and she did not growl or box. squealing loudly when it happens is a good idea… stick to it. that’s what i do and pinky no longer nips… unless i’ve been petting her and decide to stop. a nip is how she tells me she wants more. we’re still working on this one. lol.

That’s yucky! I hope you figure it out.

My foster rabbit used to hop around me in circles and nip me on the butt when I was sitting on the floor reading. It was never painful so I figured they were just love nibbles… like babybunsmum maybe she’s just testing you. If you decide to hang out in the xpen again maybe watch her to see her reaction right when you first enter… like if she seems angry or just skittish.

She didn’t draw blood, but left teeth mark and it broke the skin. I have a 1 inch bruise right now.

She’s otherwise really sweet. I can pet her and she doesn’t hop away. She even lets me rub her cheeks and nose (she fell asleep once when i did this!)

We adopted her from the Humane Society and she’s been spayed for a month. She’s normally really happy from what I see. She binkies around her x-pen and is really sweet! Her rabbit cage is in the x-pen so that if for any reason, she’s scared she can hop right back into her cage and shoebox inside the cage. I don’t think she’s scared of me. I think she wants something or is telling me something by biting (HARD!). I’m so skittish when I put down her food dish in the x-pen because she would lunge at me. She also bit me when I tried to give her a treat. I’m not putting any of the food or treats inside her cage because I don’t want her to feel like I’m invading her space.

I’m confused as to why she enjoyed me petting and spending time with her, yet she still lunges at me and bites?
