Edmund seems to be shaking his head from side to side quite a lot… Should I be worried, or is he just really, really happy?

Hard to tell. I know lops seem to be prone to ear problems so it’s certainly possible there’s a problem.

I am thinking ear trouble too. Only a vet will be able to tell for sure.

I would suggest a vet asap.

My bunny was doing the same thing, as well as scratching her ear.

It turned out to be a ruptured ear drum and that is very uncomfortable for bunny

Oh no… Brittany, Edmund is scratching his ear too… Poor thing.  What did you end up doing to help Chacha?

I guess I’ll have to take him to the vet. Thanks, guys, for your help. I’ll keep you posted.

She was on Baytril for 7 days and I took her back in because the shaking didn’t stop. Her left ear drum healed completely and her right ear had redness (no rupture). She was on Baytil for 14 days.

She has some scar tissue from the infection and WAS scratching her ear after being treated. The vet that I switched her to said that chacha’s ears are fine, but the scar tissue may cause her to itch.

I see her scratch her ears, but it isn’t like crazy anymore No more head movements either.

I would get baby checked as quickly as possible Keep us updated!

Keep us posted on what the vet says. Some things caught early are much easier to treat. If Edmund starts scratching, you might ask the vet to trim his nails while at the appointment so he doesn’t scratch anything too badly as well. He might start to if you treat his ears and the treatment annoys him.

Hi Nivedita! I’m sorry your bunny isn’t well. I hope the vet visit will be successful.

This is a very old thread though, so I’m locking it now. Please start a thread of your own if you like. You can do that here:
