        Hello,

I have two male bunnies, Dusty and Bluebell.  They were bonded with one another and used to share a cage and roam free together.  then i had them neutered and they fell out… so I have been spending the Easter holidays rebonding them. They were doing really well – spending all of the daytime happily grooming, snuggling, playing etc –  and so last night was to be their first night staying together again, only at about 9 o’clock they started to fight!!!! I am assuming that Bluebell probably started trying to hump Dusty who reacts straight away.

I am about to go back to work and so am not going to have as much time to continue with all day bonding sessions in their pen in the lounge.  So I have started to think that perhaps it would be better if I decided to let them just stay in their own cages overnight and when I am not around, and then allow them to play toegther when I am at home to watch over them.

It’s s upsetting because I know they love each other most of the time, but where they are both so flinchy and scared of being humped I’m too nervous to leave them alone again.

I suppose my question is, if they are not actually sleeping in the same place will this affect their bond?

This is them when they ARE friends!! <3

How long were they getting along during day before you tried over night? I would let them stay together, but cage separately at night, for a little while (few weeks) and then see if they handle the over night OK. Separating my bonded pair for even a few hours stresses them out, so once the bond is cemented again, they probably wouldn’t like being taken away over night.

It was obviously not long enough. Only about 4days but I thought they had bonded so I thought they would be OK. I will be back at work on Monday so they won’t be able to spend all day together. They will only have s few hours each night. I’d that going to be enough for them to keep bonding?
Its very stressful. Taking over my whole life”!

Did you let them spend the night together in a neutral area?
