My guinea pig rescue friend’s lost her female rabbit, Chanel, that I adopted to her that was bonded with Bogart.  I told her we could try Toffee my senior bun with Bogart – both are around 8 years old.  Toffee lost her friend, Twizzler about 6 months ago.  I took Toffee to my friend’s place which is a total zoo – guinea pigs, chinchilla’s, dogs, cats, ground hogs, hamsters, gerbils – you get the idea – not at all  like my calm house.   It was a bit hard to tell how it would go because Toffee was a little stressed.  So I brought Bogie home and tonight is our first bonding session.

Toffee is PISSED.  She keeps thumping and running.  Bogie chases her and humps her but he never fights her – there is some fur pulling.  He grooms himself and has given her a small groom and looks, well, confused.

He lays next to her – he’s very interested.  She’s just pissed.  He’s all stretched out and looking content, she’s hunched and unhappy

I think it will work out though.  She just needs to chill out!  He will be on his third friend and this will be her second.

Send bonding vibes and chill out vibes to Ms. Toffee…he’s not so bad, he’s really adorable!

awww, come on Toffee, maybe Bogart just needs a firm female hand, or paw. That’s so great they both have a chance for another relationship. This should be very interesting……..calming, romantic vibes coming your way Sarita!

Toffee must be ticked off. It is a shock, a new rabbit to have to warm up to!  –Your description of her demeanor reminds me of my Lint during bondings; it seems with each bond he is less interested and more insulted.

This is Lint (black mini rex on right) as he likes to be during first dates:

Toffee – “I am so ignoring you! and I’m going to pee in the corner just to prove it!”

Bogie – “Well, I’m ignoring you too! But first, I have to look good (groom, groom). Okay, now I’m going to pee in this other corner. And I know you are just playing hard to get.”

Toffee – “Hmph…it’s not play, it’s real. I’m still ignoring you too.”

Bogie – “Come on, I know you like me! I know when you thump, it means come closer.”

Toffee – “I’m still ignoring you.”

LOL: “I know when you thump, it means come closer” — males just believe what they want to.

Aww, poor Toffee. She sounds confused. She’ll get used to her new man! Tell her that many female buns would love to be with somebun named Bogart.

Kralspace, I was so lazy after changing litter boxes tonight :~(, I didn’t do any bonding – It’s definitely my project this long weekend. I’m just relieved that they aren’t fighting – I can handle ignoring :~)

I know how you feel. As well as Lola and Daisy got along at ntrs that day, once we got home there were several weeks of ‘ignoring’.

My goal this week is clipping Lola’s nails. Takes a couple of nights of mentally ‘getting ready’ before attempting it…lol. such a woosy.

Petzy – I love the picture of poor Lint

Poor Bogie,  he keeps sidling over to Toffee and she still ignores him.  He chases and she runs – he gets fur in his mouth.  But there’s no fighting.  Bogie not a fighter, he’s a lover

Toffee is playing hard to get and he just wants to snuggle.

I am now thinking Toffee has a UTI again! She will go in on Wed w/Pepe when he gets his tooth trim. I hope this is not reoccurring with her. Her tail is wet and she’s dribbling and I don’t think it’s really territorial. I’m going to continue to try the bonding though and give her some metacam until she can get to the vet. I tossed the bit of baytril that was left because it was compounded…
