Panda has been engaging in a curious little behavior over the last few months. Every so often, she’ll pause and paw or scratch lightly at the rough-textured plastic lower floor of the buns’ condo cage with one front paw. There doesn’t seem to be anything in particular bringing this on, she only does this for about a minute or so, doesn’t exhibit any signs of anger or distress, and after she does it for a little bit, she stops and goes on with her usual bunny business. Has anyone else ever seen their rabbits do this?

Mine do, especially Dawn. it’s why my carpet has bald spots, actually. The carpet is original, early 80s, so she can’t make it look any worse than it did new. Bunnies get idea in their heads, and they’re remarkably determined to do….whatever it is they’re doing.

There’s a couple of patches of wooden floor that Luna and Atlas dig at pretty regularly. I have no idea why. I’ve tried cleaning them and it doesn’t make a difference. Just a bunny thing I think.

My Bindi used to do this when he was younger. Usually in the evening. The noise drove me nuts.

Good thing I’m basically deaf these days without my hearing aids, then. The aforementioned floor is hard plastic with a rough, nubby texture that’s great for sensitive bunny hocks but no doubt produces a highly unpleasant noise when bunny nails scratch on it.
