well my new blu bun when i saved him came with a  cage and stuff well in his cage was this cloth thing, i took it out  when i cleanedhis cage yesterday but didnt throw it away just to make sure it wasnt useful in anyway (just to be sure). well while i was sleeping i hear this freaking out in a rabbit cage and blu bun is having a fit (a SERIOUS fit) over something and for a while and i couldnt figure it out. well i backtracked in my head what had changed in his current part of life that i had seen and one of  the only things i had come up with is that i took out that cloth thing, so i put it back and he stops freaking out and starts snuggling with it and he crawled under it like a makeshift bunny blanket then just lays down……ok so is that normal? i mean bunny having a sort of security blanket.

Poor guy lol. Maybe he just doesn’t like change and since he’s had so much change recently he freaked out over this.

I know that my bunny Layla hates change, so maybe that is mystery grey bunny’s problem?

As long as he’s not chewing it excessively and there are no strings dangling that he can ingest, there’s no danger in allowing him to have it. Many buns like to have a soft thing, a towel or blanket or rug. I wonder how he’ll react when it needs to be washed tho, b/c that will change the smell of it.

perhaps i will get him used to another one so when i need to wash one he will have another to take its place. but i unno if he would get used to being without it though (he is just so calm when he has it and so not calm when he didnt). but i am going to take it away agin and see if it really was the blanket he was having the fit about. he does enjoy it alot he will play with it for hours i noticed (he seems to enjoy it more then playtime sometimes)its just so strange to me to see him do with it what he does.

                  pix, please.

I bought this pretty, soft baby blanket for Sammy – no interest whatsoever.

Just tossed a cheap dish towel over her yesterday – she loves it! Played with it for 1/2 hour just now, then binkied and zoomed all over with sheer joy.
I guess I have to keep it, too. (As a child with a blankie, I say from personal experience that you should introduce a new one for about a week before washing the old one, and do give it back to him.)

rabbitpam has an excellent point. Your bun does sound rather attached to this item and if he’s not eating it, or can’t get caught up in it in any way, he should be allowed to keep it. Perhaps someday he will not need it anymore, just like a child.

And yes, a secondary ‘blankie’ is a good idea. I would love to see pictures also. What a sweet thing!

That’s so cute! Likely it was a comfort to him being in a new place, new sounds, smells, people and animals. Some really hate to have there space messed with. You could try getting something similar and rub the new one with the old to scent it. Or chuck them both in together, then after a while remove one to wash and leave hime the cleaner one. Good work finding out what was bothering him!
