I bought some sea grass mats for my buns for Christmas. They are almost paper thin and absolutely gorgeous. I’m sure they will love them but they’ve never had them before.

Just wondering if it’s a good idea to restrict play time with new things like this if they are eating a lot of it. Is it possible for buns to get tummy upset from things like this or grass balls, etc?

I’ve always thought of seagrass mats as another form of hay. Basically woven strands. I’ve never seen my bunnies with any tummy upset after chewing on one. It actually is good for covering things (like rug edges) which they nibble on that can be bad for them. And it’s good for their teeth too.

I would let them chew away, since there is no sugar or fat additive, unlike some treats.

I dont restrict it. I love the mats because they are so pretty and nice. Mae only eats them when she is terribly upset at something so its cool because its another indicator that somethings wrong in her world. I guess I would watch it for a day or two and make sure they dont fill up on the whole thing but then id just leave it.

Until your bunny chews them to uglyness.

there is no such thing as a bunny making something ugly. Everything they do is cute.
