scuffles after bonding?

  Earlier I was sitting with Lago and Panko when Panko started chewing on my pants. I was startled a bit and said, “Hey!”. Almost immediately afterwards Lago grunted and ran under the bed and so did Panko. They were fighting under it and were pulling bits of fur off each other. I couldn’t get them out for a while. After I broke up the fight, Panko went to Lago and began grooming her face. What was that all about? Should I be worried? They have been bonded only since early December, but have never fought before.
  
  Edit: I checked for any wounds and it doesn’t appear that they broke any skin or anything. Only pulled fur.

  Hmm. I’ve seen my bonded pairs sqwabble before too then run under the bed, and I don’t know what it was about. As long as they didn’t draw blood they were just working something out I think they will be just fine.

  They’re kinda off this morning too. Panko goes over to Lago and sniffs her behind and she gets annoyed and runs away hastily and thumps at him. He used to snifff at her before when he wanted to hump her sometimes. She never reacted like that before though.

  My two had a tussle about 2 weeks after they were living together full time. In their case, Hannah chases Otto and he had put up with it – I guess after two weeks of living together he decided he’d had enough. They did the circling and hair pulling thing a couple times and we ended up moving them to a small cage at night in our bedroom so we could monitor (and they couldn’t chase).
  
  Nothing really helpful to add except that it’s normal as they work out their relationship once living together. You might have luck by confining them to a smaller cage for a while so they’re forced to be close (but won’t be able to chase)

  Thanks for your replies, Lintini and Elrohwen! I think they’ve worked out whatever it was. They’re back to being snuggly again.
