Because of financial problems my younger sister and her Bun, Halo (Female? Chinchilla Rabbit) are staying with us. Her mom (who is not rabbit savvy at all and will believe anything that anyone tells her…) she bought some pine bedding. It’s 100% Pine. She hasn’t opened that package, but I brought it over with me to ask what you all thought. It says on the package, “Unlike unprocessed pine, it will not cause any damage respriratory system, liver or other organs.” I guess the theory (their theory) is that because it is processed and has removed any aromas from the wood that it will be safe. I am very reluctant to use this product. It is called “All Pet pine” And it says that it is “the healthy pet bedding” I am sure that this could cause a few law suits for false advertisement. The pet store she got it from said it was new and claimed it was safe, as does the packaging.
Would you guys trust it? I know I don’t. I want to believe that because the aromas were removed that it could potentially be safer.
The website on the bag is http://www.naturesearth.com When I type it in, it only comes up as Feline Pine. This worries me. I”m considering calling the vet tomorrow and asking what they think. It’s the ultimate test, if they say all Pine is safe then I will know to get a different vet. Hopefully, they will be able to tell me. I imagine they will probably say not to trust it, which I don’t. Hopefully, maybe you guys can help me figure this one out. It would probably be bad if Halo would eat the bedding…*sigh*
Edit: This is what I found on a website that was selling it:
“All Pet Pine is for All Pets! This 100 percent kiln-dried pine bedding is the perfect litter for your pet’s cage. Odor and moisture absorbant. No dust, chemicals, mold. Will not harm your animal’s respiratory system or liver. Safe if ingested. Great for small animals, birds, reptiles. “
