So my mom just got me a bouquet of flowers for my birthday and my little guy is freaking out about the smell!! By that I mean he keeps trying to climb on top of my table to eat the flowers. It’s a mixture of roses, hydrangea, and some other flowers I’m not positive about. I would love to let him eat some by wanted to be sure of what was safe before I did! I’m pretty sure that roses are okay but wasn’t sure about anything else. Any feedback about what’s safe and not would be great!

Hi Milothebuns. Under the Bunny Info tab you will see a very helpful healthy diet section. There is a link to Veggie and Fruit List. There are some flowers listed in that list. For this situation I wouldn’t give them any of the flowers even if they are on the list unless you are able to confirm that they haven’t been grown or treated with any dangerous pesticides or other chemicals. I hope this helps!

Yes, I would be concerned about the chemicals the flowers were likely treated with.

You’re very welcome! I think it’s very cute that he showed such a draw to the flowers. Buns definitely know what they want and when they have their minds set on something it’s hard to say no to such cute faces.

Most flowers are safe to eat but a few are poisonous and in any case, as everybody says, display bouquets are loaded with pesticides. After a similar experience with my bun I got him some dried rose petals for treats and he loves those. They generally claim to be pesticide free.

Oh dried flowers are a good idea!! It is so so hard to say no to his cute face but I just gave him extra cilantro instead and put the flowers up high and he seemed to forget about them!
