Okay, yesterday I stopped in the grocery store and there was a beautiful bunch of parsley.  I thought, "Hey, Sable should love that!"  So I bought it thinking he would like a change from the romaine he’s been gobbling up.

He ate one tiny piece then turned his nose up.  He even sniffed it once and ran away like there was something really repulsive about it.    It tasted pretty good to me, but maybe a little too different for him.  I will try it with him again just in case he wasn’t ready for the switch, you know like when you have a taste for something but couldn’t get it and the alternative just doesn’t taste right?

Maybe I’ll pick up one of those prepared salads of mixed greens so he can try a variety and I can find out what he prefers.

Tonight I have to stop and get him more of his favourite ….   hay cubes!

Just keep trying.  Maybe dandelion greens, or cilantro, or romaine lettuce.    Jack is very picky, and it takes him time to taste something new.  Sometimes he has to watch the other bunnies eat it before he’ll try.

I think most bunnies turn up their nose at anything new.  But I’ve noticed that if I put in thier veggie dish a second time it usually disappears!

did you try the flat leaf parsley?   the flavor is stronger than the curly and it’s better fro them.  Dill is a big hit at my house.

hope the lettuce mix goes over well.

Well, I didn’t give up on the parsley.  I broke it up in smaller pieces and mixed it in with his usual romaine.  He picked the parsley pieces out at first, but now the dish is getting emptied.

I still have to get around to getting the lettuce mix.  Our local store didn’t have anything satisfactory, all of the ones they had were mostly iceberg. … at least their romaine is nice

                hi y’all
i’m new to binkybunny but have lots of rabbits — i have my own and also am very active in rabbit rescue.
i find w/greens that i buy what looks great and is at a good price (organic, i wash everything). i give my guys a variety in their salads, usually at least 3-4 veggies at a time.
organic spring mix is available at costco, also health food stores.
since i feed a variety my guys don’t get too picky. they of course eat their favorites first but all the greens are gone in a flash.
the only thing i have found that most don’t like is mustard greens, but they like everything else.
right now i have in the frig: organic spring mix, fennel, chard (red & rainbow, they also like green), baby bok choy, dill, cilantro, italian parsley. others that i buy regularly are green peppers, lettuce (red, green, butter and occasionally romaine), kale, dandelions, celery.
if you have bunz new to greens, i find that they all pretty much take to carrot tops, dandelions, parsley (regular or italian). if they are already on greens you can just increase the variety and keep offering it.
my experience is that the key is to offer lots of variety, that way they don’t get tired of anything and thus aren’t picky.
                hope that helps!

Sable is still pretty new to getting greens.  So far he has liked a few kinds of lettuce, but especially romaine.  Parsley was the latest to be offered.  He’s still picking through his salad and leaving it for last, but he is eating it.
