hi everyone! My bunny has been eating normally and is active, doesn’t seem ill, just scratching his ears from ear mites, He has vet appointment for early March (2nd ish)

I checked on him after spending the night alone and saw this… I looked inside the litter box and saw LOADS of dry pellet like poops, but around three of them were wet and dark, but still round, and seemed to look firm.
Yesterday i gave him two bowls of collard greens, unlimited hay, 1/2 cup of pellets and an apple slice. The only difference I can think is that the greens were from a packet, and not fresh like how I usually give them to him. Or maybe one whole apple slice may have been too much for him? Either that or it could’ve been from unformed cecotrophes? How worried should I be?

I dont think you need to worry. Since there are many normal poops and just a few that are slightly off, this is not diarrhoea. It is a slight tummy upset. It could’ve been the apple slice, or maybe if he got a bigger than usual helping of greens?

I’d not give any fruit for a few days, and then I’d give only half an apple slice. Hay is the classic remedy for things like these, so you should encourage hay eating, f ex by serving him hay in small piles around his area (found hay trumps hay given!) or by hand feeding him hay, if that makes him eat more.

Agree with Bam. Also, how big is your bun? 1/2 cup of pellets is a lot of food, enough for a small Flemish Giant even. So that could be part of the problem.

@Bam @Hazel thank you so much guys! Now I can stop stressing as much! I meant to type a quarter cup haha but overall I do think I give him a lot of pellets considering he’s only a mini lop. It’s his favourite food so I give more when he gets spooked out by a smell or sound etc. so I think of it as his comfort food lol but I will make sure to keep that portion small! Today I only gave him his pellets and one bowl of fresh collard greens rather than the packet ones, to try and force him to have more hay instead of relying on me to check on him often and give him a snack lol, but he loves his hay anyway, especially the dandelions that come with them, so that won’t be very difficult to make him eat. I really appreciate the replies, thank you😊😊
