I’m a new rabbit owner, looking for some advice! My two buns are a bonded pair, and are house bunnies, free to roam in the well bunny proofed house while I’m home, and they have a large hutch indoors I confine them in while I’m gone. This morning I’ve noticed both buns have runny noses, the female mini lop’s is a yellowish thick mucus and she has small ‘crusty bits’ in the corners of her eyes. The male lionhead has a more watery clear mucus and no eye discharge. I checked their front paws, but there’s no discharge on them nor is their fur matted from nose rubbing. They have both been sneezing occasionally this morning as well. Their poops are normal and they both are eating and drinking well, and were playing earlier. (Now they’re napping but it is midday when they generally sleep anyway.) I adopted both 3 days ago, and they were living in cedar chip bedding. Could that have something to do with it? I have a mixture of paper pulp and straw bedding for them now. They’re scheduled for a check up with a rabbit vet two weeks from now, should I wait until then and monitor them or take them sooner? Any tips on how to help my bunnies feel better or things to look for? Please help!!!

I’d go in sooner if you can! They are usually very sick by the time they show symptoms so if you can get to a vet, that’s best!

              Hi Alex

Is there any discharge when she sneezes?

What is her setup like? ie. type of litter, type of bedding if you use it. Is her hay very dusty?
