Before anyone who’s followed my posts asks, no, I’m not trying to bond my five days neutered boy with my two weeks neutered girl. He threw a wrench in it though.

They are each in a 36″ tall xpen. They’ve kissed through the bars when the other is out, so a good start. There were no issues while I was around, so I figured we were good.

Came home to a trashed bunny room. Liam didn’t just jump out of his pen, he jumped into hers, knocked it open, and apparently spent a leisurely day chasing her around the room and humping her. She is a shaken, hungry, and (ew. ) sticky mess. She jumped away when I touched her back to scoop her out of the corner she was in. And I wasn’t there to save her…

There is a sheet over his pen now. Has anyone had a bad first impression make a bond harder? How did you handle it? I’ve already determined that stress bonding is out, as Mr. Liam isn’t afraid of anything. He flopped in the car the whole hour and a half home from the shelter.

I’m sure you’re fine. While not ideal, you’re not the first to have an accidental meeting that went terribley wrong. You’re female probably isn’t very happy, but the male (being newly nueterd) still has crazy hormones going on. They will settle down in the next few weeks. I’m glad the female is spayed though because your male probably still has viable sperm.

Give them some time and she’ll forgive him

            Oh no!
I don’t think you ruined it, but rabbits do have a memory. You might need to wait an extra month, which he needs anyway. Can you put him in a different room or make a lid of chickenmesh or something?? Your poor little girl

By the way Caudex, would you put some info on your profile page? I tried to review what buns you had, but there was nothing there. I guess I could have looked up your old posts………. I’m sorta lazy that way
