I don’t do mornings. I don’t like being woken up five minutes early even….

This morning (well about twenty minutes ago) Dave says “Lesley is that the fire alarm?” I shoot up in bed and listen -Yes it is (I would have slept through it, I’m a very deep sleeper. Surprisingly the bunnies were just laying around not worried about the loud noise).

“GRAB THE BUNNIES” So before either of us throw on pants, we grab everyone and throw them in a carrier, get cloths on (it’s 20 below out) and grab our keys…the alarm goes off…we peek outside and people are coming in.

I look in the hallway and it’s flooding (I have no idea why their aren’t sprinklers) and we have no water (re; I can’s shower or even brush my teeth to go to work)

And Chuck was very mad about being picked up so suddenly, put in a carrier then put back in his condo-so his lion was accosted

I phoned in to work, and I guess I’m waiting for water…

Reminds me though-we should all practice a fire drill to see how quickly we can get the bunnies in carriers and ready to go out the door!

OH my that is for sure a rude awakening.

I have a funny for you.    When I was married to my sons dad  saturday was his bday and fathers day all in 1.   Well i got up to use the loo and I heard splash splash.  I look down and see water.  IN the hallway it gets deeper.  I followed it and heard a big sound in the kitchen.  By the time I get to the kitchen the water was over my ankles.

I follow the sound and found under our kitchen sink the water line busted,.   I woke the family up and when I opened the front door the water shot out of the house like a river.  Down the driveway and straight to the street.  Flooded the street.

          rofl

Is your house ok and not got flooded?   That really would be bad.

Yeah first thing you went for were your furbabies.  for sure.

Luckily the water didn’t get into our apartment, but it did into the neighbors apartment-they are soaked! I stayed home from work because the water isn’t turned on and I can’t shower ( I normally shower at night and I picked last night to wait for morning OF course!!) I just phoned them, the water is sitll off but the heat is working which is good. Buns are still giving me the evil eye over the rude wake up!

I have a funny flood story too! We’d just moved into a new house in, my family and I and they were out for the day. I was washingn some delicates in my sink and ran the water in there. Got distracted with a phone call and went to the basement. (The sink was on the second floor). A few hours later I hear a strange noise and look for the source-remember I’m in the basement-and I see water pouring from the light fixtures -first thing I think ‘is it raining’ ….’ nope new house why would it be leaking…in the basement?!” then I figure it out run all the way upstairs-the entire house is flooded (I’m sixteen and in BIG troulbe). I try to clean it up but what happened was their was no ‘stop hole’ in the sink so it overflowed, ran on the floor, filled the entire second story until it dripped to the first story, filled that story then ran down to the basement. Needless to say my parents were really mad-they had to pay for the cleanup as they didn’t want to make an insurance claim since we’d just moved in two weeks earlier!!!

Aww Floods must suck! I havent personly had flod experiance, but my boyfriend was living in an apartment building a few years back and the fire alarm went off. He had two chinchillas at the time and Chinchillas hate water. So the sprinklers went off and the chinchillas got drenched! They were not happy!

Hope you get your water back soon!

Erm..okay I’m confused. (haven’t had my coffee) The FIRE alarm went off, but it was for a FLOOD? 0_o

What a bummer! I can imagine not only your frustration, but poor Chuck’s. I know, I have been jonesin’ on the terror of “what would I do if there were a fire in the house?” lately. I have the three bunnies, the three cats, the one dog in the house and the one outside in the arctic entry (poor Mr. Fishy probably wouldn’t get a pick up in that kind of emergency, sadly) and it’s been wicked cold for the last few months…adding to my agitation. I only have enough carriers currently to put Mim & Pip in one, Fiver in another, Griff and Tooey in another (that’s going to be cozy…NOT!) and Hello Kitty in still another. The dog can be given a swat on the rump like a horse and he’ll barrel out the door on his own, but having to get the pets out and the kids moving fast enough (without my son wanting to rescue his video games) just makes me almost pee my pants to think of.
Let’s add to this, no fire service in my area. We are not part of the city borough, so we don’t get that privilege. The Rangers will come put a house out if it’s going to set the National Forest on fire though, but only for that. If we light up, it’s going to ground.

                Hope things get better! ^_^

Doesn’t sound like the sort of awakening I’d want! Lucky your apartment wasn’t flooded.

We had something similar when we lived with a friend. He’d come home from shift work early in the morning and stacked the dishwasher, then discovered there was no dishwashing powder. Well, he hadn’t gone through all that effort for nothing, so he decided that dishwashing liquid would do the trick. We woke up in the morning to an apartment FULL of bubbles! We had to ‘sweep’ them out the door & over the balcony before they all popped and ruined the carpet. As it was, we couldn’t get the apple smell out of the place!

Well gee, I can think of worse things a house could smell like than apple. ^_^

That must’ve been awful…bubbles everywhere! 0_o Man that is a clean up I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy…I have a hard enough time getting all the dishsoap bubbles out of the sink if I don’t use the right amount. >.<

Not confused Mimz-yes the fire alarm went off and we flooded!! At frst I was thinking fire sprinklers but it was actually the water boiler. They installed one yesterday and it exploded this morning.

I’m a little miffed at Dave (yes their are false alarms all the time, and you have drills at work-but he didn’t know it was it wasn’t a fire) I was waiting by the door for almost four minutes while he was slowly getting dressed. “DAVE get your $%^& clothes and put some hustle in it-it could be a real fire!! ” I was miffed lol I got dressed and bunnies rounded up minutes faster then he got his pants on!!!

We’re both thinkers though lol It’s so cold out while we were getting ready we both hit our car starters so we could sit in a warm car rather then on the street lol

OH my  sounds like my husband.  He is slower than molasses.   Frustrating.  I dont’ know what takes him so long to get dressed and ready to head out the door.     Used to be I was the slow one.  HE gets up does the morning routine.  Then puts his jammies BACK ON.  Prays  then gets out of his jammies into his going out the door clothes.  Once he figures out what to wear.

Why dont’ you just put outside clothes on  and pray in that instead of changing 3x.  ooooof.  So he is usually somewhere late or at the last minute.

                        oH my flood stories.

                        Ok another one

we have no washer/dryer hook ups in our aptmnt.  So hubby put the washer n the bathroom and I use the shower hose to fill it.  And I put the drain hose  in the tub.  Well one morning i forgot I was filling the washer with water in there.    A phone call and  I forgot all about it.

Little later I went ohhhh nooooo. Ran to the bathroom water everywhere all the way to the bedroom and kitchen pantry.  NO way to sop that up. was 2 inches high.

well… I moved the washer and hid it under a blanket.  Sure enuf housing came 6 hours later.  Fortunately the water was gone and dried up by then.

They couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.

Well the neighbors ceiling fell in in his bathroom under ours and he got a big hole in his wall too. It just fell in.  rofl..  how we never got in trouble for that I don’t know.   Must have been some help from the creator upstairs i tell you.

the maint thought it was from the overflow in the tub behind the wall.  They never figured out the water was all over our apartment up here.  We have linoleum not carpet fortunately.  Maintenance fixed the thing behind the tub too.  Thinking that was the problem rofl.

                        Phew. Hubby sold the washer.

lolz…In my house it’s the other way around…the hubby is the first one ready to go anywhere and he’s having apoplexy trying to get me and the kids in gear. Poor thing! ^_^

wow that would suck.  i’m not a morning person either.  not at all.  it has been killing me to get up & out of bed in time to make it to work for 8am since last summer.  8am!!!  to me that is ridiculously early.  anyways… hope you’re all recovered from the comotion.  funny story about flooding your place.  lol.  i’ve flooded my basement several times as an adult.  duh.  stupid stand pipe that the washing machine water drains through pops out of the drain if its not in exactly right.  and… um… there has been one or two occasions where i’ve propped the hose up & out of the laundry tub & forgotten to move it back causing entire washing machine water loads to empty onto the basement floor.  oops.

LOL BBM I used to do that at our old house all the time-It wasn’t the pipe but I’d leave stuff in the sink the washer drained into-got yelled at many a time!!

MIMZ Was thinking about your evacuation for fire predicament. Here’s my thoughts. Since we have a no pets building, until I got my cloth carrier that looks nothing like an animal carrier-I would take my bunnies in and out in large purses! So you could put your kitties in the carriers, and take the buns out in a purse!

Oh, that sounded miserable. I am also NOT a morning person either. I’ve never been. That’s also the way I grew up – most of my family were not morning people and we all moaned in misery with school and/or work am hours. So I feel your pain KK!
