My kitten Charlie, who was a stray and lives in my room with Atticus while I’m not home, was just at his recheck exam and his fecal check was positive for roundworm!

I was wondering if maybe he could have either gotten it from Atti (which I don’t see how since Atti’s healthy) or if Atticus could possibly get it from him now???
I can’t give Charles his roundworm pill til tomorrow because of his Distemper shot (doctor wants to be sure he’s okay before administering more drugs)

I’m worried because Charlie loves Atticus and they play together and nap with eachother.  I’ve baricaded Charlie’s access to Atticus, but what are some signs that I should look for incase it can be transmitted?

I also want to add that I’ve only used Advantage on Atticus.  For Revolution, do they make a bunny version, or is it the cat kind that works? And do I need a prescription?

Well Revolution won’t help with Roundworm. You will need to get the right medication usually a dewormer like panacur or whatever the vet prescribes. I’m not sure if that’s what you mean about the Revolution or not. But the Revolution is based on dosages so I usually get either the kitten for small rabbits or the cat for adult rabbits.

I think you should go ahead and get a fecal test done for Atty though to check for roundworms as a precaution since your kitten has them.

I copied this directly from http://www.revolution4cats.com/display.asp?country=US&lang=EN&drug=RV&species=FL&sec=100
              What is Revolution® (selamectin)?

A: Revolution is the first-ever FDA-approved, topically applied medication for cats that:

Kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and prevents flea eggs from hatching.
Prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis.
Treats and controls ear mites (Otodectes cynotis).
Treats and controls roundworms (Toxocara cati) and hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme).

So I figure it would help ensure he’s less likely to contract it

Do you get revolution from your vet? I haven’t asked mine, because he usually gives me Advantage which I’m fine with. But i’m not sure if I want to order online or not

You should talk to you vet about the concerns with the bunny being exposed to roundworms.  Yes, it is transmittable from pet to pet- orally- basically your bunny would have to ingest the eggs that the kittens roundworms are shedding in the kittens stool.  But if they have been together and rabbtis are so, so clean and groom a alot- it is a possibility.

Revolution is labeled for CATS as you linked- rabbit use for Revolution and Advantage is technically “off label” as it is not worth the $$$ to undergo testing to become labeling for use in bunnies.  So with that being the case- I would not trust Revolution to deworm the bunny as there have been no studies, etc.  Yes, Revolution is a prescription.  Your vet will probably advise getting a stool sample checked on the bunny- if they have been together for quite a while already the bunny should test positive if the bunny does have roundworms.

Once you get the kitten cleared up it should no longer be an issue- just make sure to keep the bunny away from the kittens litterbox, etc until you get the all clear from your vet.  And frequent litterbox scooping (daily) is recommended for the kitten while treating to help prevent reinfestation (the wormer rids the cat of adult worms-and subsequent doses will kill the rest of the worm lifecycle).

You may or may not see any worms in your kittens litterbox after worming- if they have a heavy load of parasites then there is a good chance that some will pass without being digested (they look like spaghetti) but if they have a light load sometimes they will break down and digest after being killed by the wormer- so you never see them.

suggestions where a bun cant reach? he even grabs his ears with his paws and licks those.

Advantage or Revolution should be applied on the skin between the shoulder blades.  Part the fur and squeeze liquid onto the skin.  The shoulder blades should be an area where most pets can not reach themselves.
