Rose has been coming out of her shell! She was here for one week yesterday, and how suitable that she did her first binky here yesterday. She has been eating her salad before her pellets usually now, and actually leaving a tiny bit for later.  She is also a little less aggressive. Before when i reached for her bowl, a toy, her litterbox, to pet her etc she would grunt, thump and most of the time lung. But Ive learned to tell her what I plan on doing beforehand and she seems more comfortable with me announcing my presence to her lol.  We have both learned about space bubbles haha, but we both still need work.  Im so used to Hammer and not having to worry about scaring him, so i still slip up and forget with Rose sometimes.  During playtime, she actually uses maybe half of it outside of the pen now, where as she used to lounge JUST outside the pen door.  She stil doesnt like me yet though!

I think I have just as much to learn as she does. Ive had to learn different ways to hold, catch, carry, feed, pet, play with etc.  Almost everything is different with her, the way she plays, her litterbox perferences, toy choices, water drinking and eating.  Im getting better but every now and then i still forget she likes this here and that this way.   She is the complete opposite of Hammer.  But we are getting along all right

I am in the same situation that you are- got a young bunny and bonded thru the bunny’s growing process, spay/netuer and then more adult like behavior, and then I got an adult bunny that was already spayed/neutered.  So it is different to have one bunny that is so used to you and trusting and then another that jumps at the typical bunny chin rubs and other stuff that you are used to doing.  But it is also amazing to watch the new bunny and see the different behavior!

My newer bunny, Penny, tries to re-arrange the blankets on the couch when she is out for cuddle time.  She digs and then holds her front feet straight out and pushes to try to smooth the blankets the way she wants them.  And Penny loves to rub her chin on everything offered- a hand thru the cage bars needs a chin rub, the remote when I am holding it needs a chin rub, and she even rubbed her chin on a tortilla chip that I was eating last night.  It was really funny, but I let the dogs eat that chip.  And Penny is littler than Cotton- so it has been about a month and I am still amazed at how “widdle” Penny is.  I call her my “widdle” bunny that like to “widdle” on the couch.  LOL.

It is odd- how you can love and trust one bunny so, so much (Cotton) and yet fall in love and adore a second bunny (Penny).

I was told that Rose loves to do the same thing with blankets as your Penny. I gave her extra blankeis but I havent seen her do it yet. Im sure she does because she did it in her carrier at the date. She just isnt comfortable enough yet, and she doesnt want my comfort and pets yet lol

That’s something Layla loves to do as well! It was so funny when we first saw her doing it cause she’s so cute, and then later we saw the natural behaviour that led to this…which was awesome. She was outside digging a hole, digging the dirt between her legs then when the dirt was too high, she turned around and smoothes out the dirt pile so it was flat…just what she’d been doing with the blanket! Then she turned back to her hole & continued digging. Charlie doesn’t do that, and he doesn’t dig when he’s outside either so maybe there’s a connection?

Yes, I think it’s a doe thing. Digging a warren or making a nest? Jersey also does this, out in the dirt sometimes but mainly on a bean bag. I want to video it one day. She, digs, pushes and even nibbles as if clearing away roots.

Oh wow…lolz. That sounds wonderful, Liz! And how odd about the digging…you know, in one of the Watership Down Redux videos, there was a “warren building is doe’s work” thing and I laughed at it thinking it was a poke at inequality in the workplace type of thing, but…do you suppose it’s true? Are does the ones who build the warren tunnels and do the bucks just sit back with a lemonade in their easy chairs? ^_^

Beka- that is so true on their individal personalities!

I was so in love and devoted to Cotton that I did not think it got any better than that- and then to find another bun that is just as endearing but in different ways amazes me!

Too true! *nods* “I will never have another spot in my heart for anybun but Mimzy”, I thought. He is so cute, so squishable (no, I don’t), so adorable and I am very taken with Lops over Uppy Eared buns.
Now with Pip, she is dear, but she is also my daughter’s bun and always will be. Additionally, she is of a kind of attitude that I can find tiresome every so often. Lovable, but tiresome.

Then Fiver appeared on the scene. He and Mimzy are like night and day. Mimzy is my ‘zen bunny’…very mellow, not much gets him into an uppity mode and he is almost always just lounging somewhere. But Fiver is very active, ALWAYS comes to the side of the cage when he sees me and loves to be close…but not TOO close. He has more gas than Exxon and Unocal put together. He’s a very social bun. At least he certainly seeks me out more than Mimzy does. Although I have noticed he tends to be right at his pen bars lately when he sees that I am paying attention to Fiver, so there may be a bit of jealousy there… ^_^

I can’t choose one above the other. They both have their unique qualities. And, like night and day, you can’t enjoy one without the other! ^_^

Hmmm….I guess bunnies don’t noserub and tell. ^_^

Jersey Girl you described exactly what Cotton does on my shirt. Last nite he started on the bean bag too when he couldn’t get ot my shirt cause I was sitting different.

Your buns are all so interesting with their individual personalities I love hearing about them.  So cute. And so different.  I bet first time bunny owners are just loving these personalities and learning about them too. To see that they actually have so many personalities . wow
